Dr. Gordon, you have been a major force in EMS for many years. Good luck and

enjoy your retirement. I think you have earned it. :)

Sincerely,

After 22 years, Dr. Gordon will retire from the UT Health ScienceCenter

effective August 31, 2008.Dr. Gordon has served as a faculty member and medical

director of San Fire Department and has been the face of EMS care in

San, Leon Valley, Bexar County, and South Texas for many years.

Dr.Gordon's impact extends internationally through his work with theAmerican Red

Cross and the American Heart Association. His leadershipand dedication to

prehospital care and education has created a legacy ofpermanence and pride. There

are literally thousands of patients who are alive or enjoy ahigher standard of

living because of the innovations and standards thatDr. Gordon facilitated for

EMS in San . Few health carepractitioners can ever hope to have such a

lasting impact on patientsand students.Dr. Gordon is graciously assisting the

Department of Emergency HealthSciences in the search for his replacement as San

FireDepartment Medical Director and has agreed to assist in this

transition.A reception honoring Dr. Gordon's service will be announced soon. In

themeantime, join me in congratulating Dr. Gordon for his years of

faithfulservice as he enters, deservedly, retirement from the UT Health

ScienceCenter and prepares for new opportunities...most likely without a

radio, cell phone, or pager at his side. With sincere appreciation,Lance
