Guest guest
SITUATION (0500CDT08042008) TS Edouard continues on a westerly track south of Louisiana with a slight increase in forward speed overnight to 8mph. Current location is 300 miles east of Galveston. Winds remain at a steady 50mph. MY ANALYSIS THe radar loop shows little to minimal increase in organization overnight: I suspect with the warming of the day and continued mild winds aloft that this will change later today with stronger eye wall definition. Current forecast is a landfall at Galveston in just under 24 hours with either high tropical storm winds. This will be mostly a rain maker with dangerous wind gusts and the potential for tornados as the system comes over land. RECOMMENDATIONS Finish your preparations before nightfall today. Contact your out of area emergency contact and assure connectivity and advise them of your plans. Mitigation- secure loose materials, protect windows. FUEL YOUR VEHICLE. If there are prolonged or large area power outages, fuel may be a premium, as will ice and non-perishable and ready to eat food. Be aware, prepare, be safe!
