Hi, just read this and have a few comments. I am on 40mg of prednisone a day for autoimmune liver disease, and have been treating diabetic symptoms since I started the higher dose, about 2 months ago. I don't know why, but it is one of the many symptoms of steriod higher doses of steriods. There are many symptoms, and all pretty threatening to our bodies. That is why they are dangerous, but it is a double edged sword. Sometimes it is the only thing that works. For me, I have to take them right now, so am treating the symptoms of diabetes with a low carb diet. Mine is pretty well under control and I am not having to take shots right now like I was for 6 weeks. I am finally learning how and what I can eat. I will hopefully be weaning off in a few months to a drug with less side effects. That's all for now. Have a great DAY!!! :-) Judy > > Judith > > > GlassArtist@... writes: > > > > How do steroids cause diabetes? > > > > > > Hi , > > I don't know how they cause diabetes other than steroids does cause high > bg > > readings.
