Guest guest
This is something I have been worried about. I am retired/disabled from employment with the State of Arizona. I just got a notice from the Department of Administration and this is what it said:"Dear Member:Recently, President Obama signed into law sweeping federal legislation that will impact health care insurance for all Americans. Health care insurance reform requires significant changes to the benefits offered by the Benefit Option Plan. These federally mandated changes will result in greater expenses and higher premiums for members."It's not like this is a huge surprise but I had hoped I was wrong that this would happen with universal healthcare. I worked hard to earn these benefits and now I probably won't be able to afford to use them anymore. SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
The program signed into law--the final bill--I have read until I am cross-eyed.I can only see that the federal law might help you. This is the kind of notice that private insurance groups, send out to entice you into a change which maynot benefit you. As I recall, you had a Medicare Savings plan that did not--at this time--include Part D for prescriptions. That struck me as very suspicious! If there is a phone number attached to the document you received, and/or a return address, or a way to look up the Arizona "Department of Administration"on the web, I would do it. This looks suspicious, possibly bogus to me.I did try to find a "Department of Administration" for the State of Arizona, and was unable to find it on a Google search.Love, your friendly neighborhood computer "snoop,"nTo: Group <mserslife >Sent: Wed, July 14, 2010 5:15:19 PMSubject: my healthcare costs going up under president's new healthcare plan This is something I have been worried about. Guest guest
Oh no, this is legit. My benefits come from the Department of Administration and this is from my benefits department. This is real, n. Your memory is correct in that last year I opted to go for a Medicare Advantage plan instead of insurance through my "employer" because I had some other bills/expenses and didn't want to pay the premium for this year. My premium would have been around $100 a month. I have delayed some medical care this year because of the cost for copays and such. I planned on getting insurance again through my employer next benefit election period and then I would be able to get all the medical care done that I delayed this year. I don't know yet what the premiums will be but they should be sending me the benefits election packets before too long. I think we are going to see this sort of thing happening more and more as the new healthcare stuff goes into effect. Remember last week Amy told us about her insurance changing to an inferior plan because the plan she has had was deemed a "cadillac" plan? Amy is a teacher.SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
