You really, truly have lived an incredibly full life, dearn! I am in awe of all you have done; athleticallyand non. It also amazes me all you continue to do withthe CF and the MS, amongst other afflictions.I am sorry to read of your PN, and hope it resolves soon, and is not so painful for you.love to you, and all our friends,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Thu, July 15, 2010 4:19:00 PMSubject: Re: Never ending fatigue/ and hot, damp weather

We lived, or I did, outside of Detroit until I was nearly ten.My school was several miles away--no buses then. So,usually we walked to school. When it snowed, the roads were plowed and we often could walk to school; otherwise,we did cross-country skiing. If there was solid ice on top ofthe snow or the road, we ice-skated to school, using skatesmore or less like modern hockey skates. Then we moved to the L.A. Basin near Los Angeles, nearthe beach--we were at the beach every day; so, I learnedto surf and to body surf--my mother had made certain thatwe each learned to swim--and well--as she had been terrifiedof the water--my father used to say that watching our motherswim side-stroke made it appear that her main attempt wasto keep as much

of her OUT of the water as possible. Then we moved to Portland, Oregon and lived on a lake,Lake Oswego; I was in ecstacy, and discovered the joysof downhill skiing on Mt. Hood, about 70 miles outside ofPortland.I went to college and began graduate school in Portland, met my husband-to-be- --whose main aim in life was to moveto Berkeley, California, which we did. I still live about 75yards immediately south of Berkeley just above the S.F.Bay.I could take up a lot ot space here describing all the athleticactivities I got into--including fishing, boating--all of it.In part because I have Cystic Fibrosis (We do not all dropdead before 25, though sadly, many do.), and in part becauseI developed MS while living in humid Portland--nice muggysummers--I just have no tolerance for either heat or humidity--but I would choose cold and rain over muggy any day.I think that the

hottest cities that I, myself have experiencedhave been New York City and Chicago, though now LosAngeles (along with the rest of the planet) is far warmer thanit was when I lived there.Love to you, Kate, and to all of you,nP.S. I now have severe peripheral neuropathy from myfeet to above my knees, so am no longer doing athleticthings--just watching what I eat--very carefully!
