Guest guest
Hi Kate, I am here. Just trying to stay cool. The humidity here is awful. We have never had a summer with so many 90 degree days and such bad humidity. We are going to have sweet corn and sandwiches. Too hot to cook much even with the air conditioning on. Guest guest
Our TV is out, won't be back for at least 3-4 days (the cable box blew, there IS TV in Robbin's room, he has a separate box, waiting for the replacement box to arrive) so I have music playing (mostly Matchbox Twenty and Rob songs) Speaking of "Rob"'s, Rob called, grilled me about the house I found, all kinds of questions, promised he'd be back to help us move (yeah, riiiight), during the conversation mentioned he only has a couple of hundred $$, I asked him, well, if you've been making so much money, where is it all going to? He said food and gas and stuff, then he hung himself...said "life costs money" ( Funny, I have that SAME problem HERE!). (And I WILL use that in court.) Anyway, dinner..I have some salmon pinwheels stuffed with spinach and feta, will probably cook up some carrots or broccoli to go with, maybe some rice...wish I had some salad, but I'd need a ride to the store for that. I did send Robbin over to the neighbor to ask if she could take me, there was no answer when he knocked (and her truck is in the drive) so I had him leave a note under her windshield. Ok, the house...it is an older mobile (EVERYTHING here is a mobile home, your main choice is single- or double-wide) It is a double-wide, not as big as here but it is 3 Br/2 ba on about 1/2 acre of sand. Near Lake , and has a canal just past the backyard. It is about 40 years old but in pretty good condition, from what I can tell. Central heat/air (standard for them all), the guys said I can probably get the comcast triple play there, I must have high-speed Internet, for Robbin's school. The lace I looked at yesterday is newer, but smaller and not really as nice and only has dial-up. No good. Anyway, this new place has a fantastic kitchen, living room, dining room (or family room, could be either), lots of windows, the walls are dark paneled, however, so it will be cooler, or should be. There is a laundry room (gotta get a washer-dryer, that is an absolute), all-in-all not too bad. Not as nice as what I have here but I can make it homey and the kitchen will be perfect for candlemaking, and has a huge pantry, something that neither the other place to even this place has. The other place is cheaper ($515) but there is no ramp and for the guy to put one in I would have to pay for the materials, whereas the one we chose, while it does not have a ramp the guy IS going to put one in for me (and not charge me for materials, either!) so there is yet another reason to go with that one. He wants $600 a month and a $500 deposit, which he is willing to break into payments (I will give him $100 or maybe 2 when I sign next week, the rest will be in 2 payments added th Aug rent and Sept rent). So there ya go, now aren't you glad you asked? ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ -- quiet today.../dinner tonight? Guest guest
It's 2 million percent humidity here today too, ugh... We have the National High School Rodeo going on in town, so Himself is down pulling shifts at the fire dept, and I'm staying the heck out here in the boonies away from the insane traffic! Since he's going to be there til sometime after 10 tonight, I'm going have a nice sammich -got some lovely turkey breast, tomato, and " nutty oat " bread.... Last night, though, I " invented " some " hamburger helper " - 1 lb ground beef 2 carrots, chopped fine 1 stalk celery, chopped fine 1/2 sweet onion, chopped fine (just happened to HAVE a sweet onion!) 1-1/2 cup beef broth 1-1/2 cup milk 2 TBSP Hidden Valley Ranch dressing powder (actual dressing would work too) 2 cups pasta your choice of cheese sour cream? Brown beef and veg in a big skillet - this worked great in my electric one, less heat in the house. Meanwhile, mix broth (or water), milk, and Ranch. When beef/veg is done, pour liquid into skillet. Bring to boil. Add UNCOOKED pasta and stir in. Bring back to boil, then turn down to simmer and cover. Stir and add small amounts of water as required until pasta is tender. Sprinkle with cheese, cover, and let melt. Stir thoroughly. Add sour cream if desired, stir again. Great with a nice big salad! in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
Did the lightning whack your cable box? That's happened to me in the olden days.... Your new house is none of Rob's business, since he will be visiting Robbin at Walmart! ;-P The new place sounds good - I'm sure you can call Comcast or whoever with the address and be sure you can get high-speed before you move there. One thing you want to check before you sign the dotted line, though - be sure the yard isn't infested with sand fleas!!! I moved into one place on sand in Valdosta, and we were almost eaten alive.... I covet that pantry! Right now I have one double floor cabinet, into which is shoved every can and box in the house. Guest guest
Yes he sure is. I buy the salmon at Winn Dixie, they are 2 for $5.99 or something like that, and they are substantial enough that I can actually make a dinner for two with one package. I think I might make cauliflower with it, I'd forgotten that I have one in the fridge. The cable box just went haywire, no reason. I turned the TV on and it gave am error message, I called them, they had me jump through a few hoops and said it has to be replaced. To do that, they have to fedex me a new box, apparently there is no serviceman around here to do it, and of COURSE there's a weekend in the middle...so gotta wait till the new one gets here. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ -- Re: quiet today.../dinner tonight? There are somehockey camps sprinkled in a bit, and a VacationBible Camp for the kids, for a week inAugust, but besides that, there isnothing going on. Hockey is expensive enough, thatwe really couldn't afford to send them to camps as well.Anyway, if anyone is around, I'd be interested in hearingfrom you. I also need some 'cool' ideas for dinner. Don'twant to make the house too hot!So...if anyone has any thoughts, I'd love to hear them!love and blessings,Kate
Guest guest
Only 2 million percent humidity???? The humidity is up here today again and it's pure misery for me. I'm just trying to stay cool, which is an impossible task I'm afraid. So the National High School Rodeo is in your town? We have three local kids who have gone to complete in that rodeo! Cool, huh? We have the National High School Rodeo going on in town, so Himself isdown pulling shifts at the fire dept, and I'm staying the heck out here inthe boonies away from the insane traffic! Since he's going to be there til sometime after 10 tonight, I'm goinghave a nice sammich -got some lovely turkey breast, tomato, and "nutty oat"bread.... Last night, though, I "invented" some "hamburger helper" - 1 lb ground beef2 carrots, chopped fine1 stalk celery, chopped fine1/2 sweet onion, chopped fine (just happened to HAVE a sweet onion!)1-1/2 cup beef broth1-1/2 cup milk2 TBSP Hidden Valley Ranch dressing powder (actual dressing would work too)2 cups pastayour choice of cheesesour cream?Brown beef and veg in a big skillet - this worked great in my electric one, less heat in the house. Meanwhile, mix broth (or water), milk, and Ranch. When beef/veg isdone, pour liquid into skillet. Bring to boil. Add UNCOOKED pasta and stir in. Bring back to boil, then turn down tosimmer and cover. Stir and add small amounts of water as required until pasta is tender.Sprinkle with cheese, cover, and let melt. Stir thoroughly. Add sour creamif desired, stir again. Great with a nice big salad! in WYPractical Blackwork Designs"You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..." http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com http://practicalblackwork.com-----Original Message-----From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On BehalfOf katelloydkidz@...Sent: Saturday, July 17, 2010 11:06 AMTo: MSersLife Subject: quiet today.../dinner tonight? Guest guest
It's actually nicer now - not as humid and " heavy " . I still ain't doing a blessed thing I don't have to, though - I've been here all afternoon working on revamping the design section of my website. The e-store may juuuuussssssst be visible on the horizon... ;-) And yup, Gillette is crawling with sparkly little Rodeo Queens and bronc riders so small you wonder how on earth their mamas let 'em do such a thing! They're all pretty good kids, though - they're required to wear their contestant numbers at all times, so if they misbehave they get in trouble! Good luck to your local kids!
