Guest guest
We are having very cold weather. This kind of cold weather usually doesn't hit until late January or February, if at all. A former neighbor of ours now lives about 4 miles away. He is a single father of three kids who is very down on his luck. I think I have mentioned him here before. Anyway, he has no heat. So we have his kids here with us. We tried to get the dad to come, too, but he refused because he felt he needed to be home to take care of the cats, dogs and poultry. All the kids want is to sit next to the fireplace. It was 13.5 below last night. It is 2 minus here now and it's 9 p.m. The low temps are supposed to be increasing to 19 by Wednesday. hugs from your freezing friend.... SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
The father of the children we took in, is a very nice man who has mental health problems. Because of his particular mental health dx he does not trust most people and would never trust any organization or agency to help him. He's a good friend to us all and we have helped him before. The kid's mother died in a car wreck about 5 years ago and that left him alone to take care of the kids. He does the best he can with his limitations. We have plenty of firewood, Kate. It was not quite as cold last night... only 6 below. It is supposed to be warmer by Wednesday when the forecast is for 19 for a low. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. We didn't/don't have much food in the house but were able to make spaghetti last night and pancakes this morning. Guest guest
You're an angel Sharon, a real one. Wings and all! I went to the store yesterday so I am finally stocked all up, even got a ham. Made a HUGE pot of black beans, turkey and brown rice, we will have some more tonight then the rest will go in a casserole in the freezer for another day. It was awesome, first time I have ever made them from scratch! ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php -- RE: 13.5 below here and neighbor kids staying with us Sharon what a nice thing for you to do. Guest guest
Kate...The children are 12, 13 and 15 now. We've been involved in their lives for nearly 3 years now. They are really sweet kids and I like them all. The 13 year old girl is a challenge, let me tell you. She seems the most affected by her mom's death. Mom and dad were separated when the mom died. The mom had gotten involved in drugs and the dad was trying to get them back with him. So you can imagine the trauma and emotions involved in the whole thing. It was warmer this morning at 2 degrees. Hey, that's a whole lot better than 13.5 below:) SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
We had a great time with the extra kids here. One day my three granddaughters (8, 13 and 14) and the 15 year old 'extra' got in the kitchen and made a cake and homemade frosting for the cake. It was very good and afterward the 15 year old told me that was her 'first cake'. She was so excited! She told me she has never cooked anything before and didn't know how to cook. I told her we need to teach her and she was happy about that idea. The 15 year old will turn 16 on the 31st of this month and we are going to have a party for her here. We are all looking forward to it:) SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
