Guest guest
Not sure if this has ever been posted here before, it seems like I've seen it before though. I gave it another read and it's good. I think it very clearly & accurately defines what it's like to have a BPD or other PD (particularly of the cluster B variety) in our lives. If you have the time, give it a read. It might offer some glimpses into your situation and offer some insight. Or at the very least, a little validation. http://counsellingresource.com/lib/therapy/self-help/understanding/
Guest guest
There's also articles on manipulation, BPD in general, more on PDs, etc. Getting ready to read those as I'm not sure I have before. Guest guest
Yes, that is a good site, with a lot of info about lots of mental illnesses, citing both the ICD 10 and the DSM-IV as resources. There is a free " ask the counselor " section. You can type in a question and one of their counselors will write back, on the website (for public consumption), so its best to not give too-detailed, too-specific identifying information in your question. I have recommended their article " How to Tell If You're Dating A Loser " which describes personality-disordered behaviors very accurately and offers advice on how to safely disengage from a pd significant other. Although it was written for those in chosen relationships, I think it has some useful info for those of us in unchosen relationships as well. Here's the link to that 3-part article: http://counsellingresource.com/lib/therapy/self-help/loser/ -Annie > > Not sure if this has ever been posted here before, it seems like I've > > seen it before though. Guest guest
Thanks Annie, I didn't read the link on " dating a loser " but you're right, it might be helpful for those of us with unchosen PDs in our lives. Yes, I found this site to be really interesting and useful as a survivor. I do wish it had some more information on how to deal with these people he calls " disordered personalities " . (example: the section with the series of articles on manipulation tactics. It would be nice to have some information on how to handle those situations from the non PD end. Granted, there are books available that do help, such as SWOE.) Guest guest
At the site's " Ask The Psychologist " section, there are questions that readers have asked regarding personality disorder that the psychologist answers. Unfortunately the questions are not grouped by topic and so it takes time to find ones specific to bpd, but here's one about a Cluster B mother that I think has a thoughtful, insightful response: http://askthepsych.com/atp/2011/07/05/what-can-i-expect-from-joint-counseling-se\ ssions-with-my-mother/ -Annie > > > > Not sure if this has ever been posted here before, it seems like I've > > > > seen it before though.
