Guest guest
My 18 year old, Lia works Sats. in a local deli. She was using the meat slicer when...yup...ugh,she cut a chunk of skin off! I'm someone who doesNOT do well with icky stuff, so I'm trying to be bravefor her, but she is being VERY stubborn and notletting me take her to the ER. It is taking a long timeto stop bleeding. We are applying pressure, and shehas it raised above her heart. I ran out to CVS andbought gauze and tape and we have it wrappedreal tight. I have been feeling nauseous and dizzynow for about a half hour. I don't want to make thisabout me, 'cause it is her I'm worried about, I'mjust concerned that I'm going to pass out about it.Even thinking about it makes me woozy.I'm worried about her, but she's digging her heelsand refusing to go.love and blessings,Kate Attachment: vcard [not shown]

Guest guest
Hi Kate, Good luck with this. As an 18 year old, legally, Lia is an adult. If she refuses to seek medical attention, you can't make her. You can encourage her. If she loses consciousness, then you have the right to seek medial attention on her behalf. My brother died in 2001 as a result of a head injury. He was knocked unconscious and the general talk at the party was that wouldn't want to go to the hospital. He was unconscious, and somebody should have called for the EMTs. All the best.Donna in WA
Guest guest
Hard to say without seeing the boo-boo - stitches may or may not work, depending on where it is and " how " it is. If it is SPURTING blood, go to the ER immediately!!! If it is still ACTIVELY bleeding after half an hour, SHOULD go to the ER. If is just oozing and can be held closed with bandaging, will prolly be okay, but tell her may be much worse scar without treatment... I used to work at a taco joint where a daily task was chopping lettuce in a big giant food processor. Boss wouldn't let us use the wooden push-thingie that went with it, she was worried about getting wood in the lettuce... So instead one day there was mass quantities of BLOOD in the lettuce, because I cut the tips of two fingers off in the damned thing. They were hanging by flaps, would have been cut off at the ER; I didn't want to have to wait for all that flesh and skin to grow back, so I taped them down with bandages and they " re-attached " a lot quicker.... Sorry about your gross-out factor with blood. Mine is anything to do with eyeballs. :-P in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
my ex had Von Willibrant's Syndrome - hemophillia he stabbed the calf of his leg opening a box at work - he was shipping and handling he knew he had it - just ignored it he had a night class so drove 35 _ miles into ST Louis - started class and ohhh - he felt something warm running down his leg - since he was over 100 miles from home - gee - might be a good idea to head home around 9 pm that night I got a phone call from some guy I didn't know - oh by the way your husband asked me to call and let you know he is on the way to St ph's ER - medical problem I said thank you - mentally cussing him out - I called his Mom at work in Sears in Crestwood. MO - a few miles from the ER - I had a baby and a ten year old already in bed all I had to say was your son .... she calmly asked where is he - I said ST Joe's ER - family hospital - she said I will take care of it she walked in just as the Doc was asking if he had any medical problems - no she didn't kill him she took him home to Ballwin - fed him scrambled eggs - had father go with them - father drove the pinto and she drove her baby home - they rolled in about midnight since the Doc didn't know about the bleeding he said ice and then heat - well by 5 am he was up bleeding through my good bath towels - I went down stairs and called his Mom and told her what was up - she called back and asked him how he was feeling we went to our ER around 9 am - couldn't get him farther - they had to go deep to get the stitching good I got him home and went for the RX - when I got home he was sleeping bolt upright on the loveseat snoring 30 minutes later the phone rang - it was work - when was he coming in - your are right - he went in after almost bleeding out one of the reasons I divorced him To: MSersLife Sent: Sat, July 17, 2010 4:41:15 PMSubject: Re: ut oh Thanks, Anne. Slipped getting out of the shower, completely shredded the retina in my right eye - apparently it was REMOVED FROM MY HEAD ARGH ARGH ARGH and CUT OPEN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRHHH! and the insides were lazered, stitched, frozen, some stuff I can't remember, the whole thing was wrapped with a silicon band thingie (I have a foreign object in my head!!!) and then returned to its socket. Guest guest
Can you use it normally? Or did you lose the sight in that eye? That is SO creepy! eeeewwwwww.......... ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ -- RE: ut oh Hard to say without seeing the boo-boo - stitches may or may not work, depending on where it is and "how" it is. If it is SPURTING blood, go tothe ER immediately!!!If it is still ACTIVELY bleeding after half an hour, SHOULD go to the ER.If is just oozing and can be held closed with bandaging, will prolly beokay, but tell her may be much worse scar without treatment... I used to work at a taco joint where a daily task was chopping lettuce ina big giant food processor. Boss wouldn't let us use the woodenpush-thingie that went with it, she was worried about getting wood in thelettuce... So instead one day there was mass quantities of BLOOD in the lettuce, because I cut the tips of two fingers off in the damned thing. They werehanging by flaps, would have been cut off at the ER; I didn't want to haveto wait for all that flesh and skin to grow back, so I taped them down withbandages and they "re-attached" a lot quicker.... Sorry about your gross-out factor with blood. Mine is anything to dowith eyeballs. :-P in WYPractical Blackwork Designs"You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..." http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com http://practicalblackwork.com-----Original Message-----From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On BehalfOf katelloydkidz@...Sent: Saturday, July 17, 2010 2:23 PMTo: MSersLife Subject: ut oh My 18 year old, Lia works Sats. in a local deli. She was using the meat slicer when...yup...ugh,she cut a chunk of skin off! Guest guest
There was a poster I saw in '69 that said "Karma is a bitch". How true, eh? It sounds like someone has some bad karma coming. Guest guest
It was just plain weird - it was an outpatient thing and so no " unconscious " meds, just sleepy/no pain/stoner meds. I was drifting one minute, enjoying the fireworks show - did you get to see all the fireworks going off inside your eyeball? - and the I saw the Dr's eye REALLY HUGE, and then I said " ow " , and you better believe there was some scramblin' to give me MORE stoner meds... ;-) I don't think I was unstoned enough during the wake-up to be scared, thank goodness!!! in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... " http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com http://practicalblackwork.com Re: RE: ut oh Oh , I had the exact surgery! I have the silicon band thingy too, called a scleral buckle. They don't know how mine happened though, not as extreme or tragic as your's......But how very horrific and nightmarish to wake up during surgery, that's so terrifying!
