Guest guest
Hello, I just started Ampyra on Thursday. My neuro told me that one of her other patients with MS who is wheelchair bound has been taking the drug and is to the point of standing and taking a few steps. So who knows, maybe it will work but you don't know until you try. I don't have too many issues walking but if it can stop me from running into things or tripping across the floor, that's one symptom I'm rid of. I personally hope it does more than help with walking because it's supposed to increase nerve function. So we'll see. It should help me with walking says my doc. I've read lots about it, and it helps some but not all. I will be trying it out soon, but I'm told it could take 2-3 mo. before I know if it helps. Guest guest
I've been taking Ampyra over a month and, unfortunately, it's not doing anything for me. But, the odd thing is that Fampridine, which is Ampyra without the controlled release, does help. I was taking 40 mg/day of Fampridine but only 20 mg/day of Ampyra is allowed due to a risk of seizures. I've asked my neuro for an increased dosage of Ampyra but so far it's a no-go. Considering I was taking 40/mg of Fampridine without seizure, increasing my Ampyra dosage shouldn't be a problem. Therefore, I will return to Fampridine at the end of this month. If the Ampyra is helping you and you're not having side effects, then keep taking it. Some folk on it claim it's helping with other MS symptoms such as clonus and insomnia.Dan U dao_nguu@...
