Guest guest
Yes, this is a new addition to the rules, and is in place now, but will not be enforced until January. Thom Seeber, CCEMT-P CES Manager, Coastal Bend Operations American Medical Response Provider number on Ambulance I was informed by our manufacturer of our ambulances that they were told (second hand yes) that the state was going to start requiring the state provider number on the side of the ambulances from now on. Is this true and if so when does it start and what are the provisions. I will go and look around on the DSHS web site but thought someone might know off the top of their head. Guest guest
Ok, I have to ask, who's bright idea was this? I know that it was talked about several yrs ago during a GETAC meeting, but was not acted on, because everyone thought that it was going to be too much lettering on the side of an ambulance, plus look like a " pest control " truck or other vehicle with such numbers. I guess I'll have to go and read the new 157.11 rule. Guest guest
Really it will not be hard to do. Can order nice cut numbers/letters that match current lettering, buy the individual letters at the hardware store works just not as nice looking, or as someone commented could use templates and spray paint but that could turn out badly if done wrong. I actually have no real problem with this being done just not sure it will prevent any wrong doing. I hope I did not come across as opposed. The numbering/lettering doesn't change the part of EMS I'm taking care of, but I can see how it could be a little bit of an aggrevation for a big busy service with lots of ambulances. Renny > > There have been several comments concerning the provider number being placed on the sides of the EMS vehicles. Here is the language in 157.11 that applies, please note the font size or color is not specified in rule so that will be left to the provider in order for the provider to keep with their color scheme. > > All EMS vehicles shall have the name of the provider and a current department issued EMS provider license number prominently displayed on both sides of the vehicle in at least 2 inch lettering. It is my understanding the EMS committee has 157.11 on their agenda, but it not the intent of the department to postpone the enforcement of this rule which will begin January 1, 2009. > > Maxie Bishop, RN, LP, State EMS Director > EMS and Trauma Services > maxie.bishop@... > > > >
