Guest guest
For our son also bites his hand. It can be intense at times. I have put my hand in his mouth so he won't damage his and it really hurts. For our son, hand biting has been mostly due to digestive pain. Only a few of the GI docs know about this link between behavior and gut pain. Dr. Krigsman and Dr. Buie both see many kids with autism with similar gut issues. Difficult to treat, but if treated successfully the behaviors go away, and cognitive ability improves. Our son improved with treatment, but the improvement did not last, so we are currently doing an elemental diet to give his digestive system a break and a chance to heal. Beyond that, there is something auto immune going on. Don

Guest guest
, Sorry for the confusion....Teach me to post so late on such a busy day...I mistakenly typed the oil as we've used Flax oil quite a bit in our years of biomeds....take out the oil...it's suppose to be ground flax seeds (she told me I could buy the seeds, clean an old electric coffee grinder by running rice grains through it then throw in the flax seeds to grind them up. She put (13yo) on 1 tsp daily mixed into food or liquids. This is a binder for other things ( & good fiber)...plus it's being used additionally right now to mop up the extra testosterone that my dear 13 yo is enduring in his current state of puberty... Blessings, Rita > > > , > > Today at our appointment I learned about 2 things...both I was going to wait to post on but I'm thinking you need to ponder these things now. > > 1) She has just taken us from Alfalfa which he has done really well on for a couple of years now to fresh ground flax seed oil which is a binder as well. > > 2) She told me she'd send me a copy of her powerpoint which (Better Health Guy...LOVE this guy!!) said was " absolutely superb " . I just finished looking at it....I'll be referring back to it many times in the future....see if anything pops out to you at what to do: > > http://betterhealthguy.com/joomla/blog/259-biomedical-tips-and-tricks-with-amy-d\ erksen-nd > > > > If the link does not work google " better health guy scott " ...here's the link to his site: > > http://betterhealthguy.com/joomla/index.php > > On the left hand side click on " Biomedical Tips and Tricks with Amy Derksen ND " > > Open the PDF to the Powerpoint presentation. > > GREAT STUFF!!!!!! > > Blessings, > > Rita

Guest guest
....think you just did it too ) .... figure you're meaning flax seeds (not oil...but the seeds to grind...are we confused yet..I'm a little to lacking in sleep...can't help my chuckling right now ;o) To determine if this was to much I'd not look so much at the childs weight as this is a good food...I'd tend to look @ this more along the lines of need as I don't think you can give to much of this in a good diet w/good fat & good fiber needs....the question I would ask is what's his stool look like...would he benefit from the extra fiber...as far as I think, all our kids to use good binders, good fats.... & good fiber. If you think he's getting to much fiber then maybe I'd cut back the ground flax seed from 1 tsp to 1/2 & monitor both the stools & behaviour to see if you should bump it back up again...the good part is it's food...you can't go to wrong so you can take it off your worry list )!!
