Guest guest
To: Trauma & amp; Critical Care mailing list Subject: UTMB and Shriners Burns Hospital evacuating for Hurricaine Ike This morning, we are evacuating all patients from the Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston (11 inpatients, approx. 45 ambulatory burn patients) and the University of Texas Medical Branch (260 patients) as the projected path of Hurricaine Ike has turned. We expect to see hurricaine force winds and storm surges over Galveston island and this area of the Texas Coast, including low lying areas near Houston. This is obviously a major undertaking on short notice and hopefully full evacuation will be accomplished in under 24 hours from the decision to do so. Thanks to our colleagues in Cincinnati, Shreveport, Dallas, Austin, and San for opening their doors to these patients. Please keep the physicians, staff, families, and most importantly our patients in your hearts and prayers on this 9-11 anniversary.
