Guest guest
I am fairly new to this group and read a few post and have some questions. What is actos? And is tea better for diabetes?
Guest guest
That sounds great. What brand do you use? Are the diet or regular? I take metformin and glybuderide
Guest guest
I have been drinking coffee and diet coke for years. My diet coke consumption has spiraled drastically in the last year; coinciding with my increase in work (started my dairy) and I think also as a reaction to being undiagnosed T2. As diagnosis has been very expensive (meds, dr visits, diet changes) I have reduced my diet coke and after recent discussions about tea decided to drink it instead of coffee. As with most of the US temps here have soared and I know the herbal properties of tea are cooling and coffee are heating. However I have had two hypoglycemic occurrences, yesterday morning and this morning with exactly the same food and routine, other than the tea (with splenda) instead of diet coke and obviously the heat. I was overheated when I got in last night but still ate my normal late supper around 10 pm. I no longer test daily in the am as I always eat the same thing, and didn't carry my meter to the dairy today. but after a fairly drastic mood swing and wicked head ache I drank a juice (keep them there for hypo) and it improved, but when I got inside one hour later my bg was 81. This is the first time I have felt different with bg below 100. I was rx 10 wks ago with bg of high 300s and a1c of 6.? and am taking actos. In the past I have had several times when I tested thinking it was time to eat and was surprised to find bg of 80s. Thoughts? Guest guest
What brand of Tea? And should the tea be sugar free?
Guest guest
I have been doing a bit of research on tea since I got back in from finishing chores (after an extra meal!) and have found that black, green and oolong teas promote insulin production which is probably what prompted my hypoglycemic event. So I strongly suggest care in adding these products to a diet. Actos is one of the meds for diabetics who make insulin but can't utilize it. Somehow it helps the blood cells absorb (?) the insulin that is already present in the body.
