Guest guest
In 1972 my ex - the idjut - was Rifted - Reduction in Force - we sold the house here in town and went to Ballwin, MO - he left me and the oldest son with his mom for a month - not only did he forget to tell me that our cocker had survived the fight with the chow - collie - he decided not to tell me my grandfather had died in England and Grace went for the funeral - I had called down a few times - Dad went along with it - he told his mom when he got back to St Louis before he told me - that started a donnie brook Then when my least one was born in December 1976 - the little one went into respiratory distress and went to a NICU further into St Louis - initially diagnosed with Hyline Membrane Disease like JFK's son - my oldest one was out in washington with the dogs and the babysitter - I was in Town and country at the hospital - my inlaws were loose on the interstates - grandma was in Ballwin - when they left the hospital the blizzard of 1976 the 3rd night the docs gave him up to God - nobody told me - I was in hospital from the 28th to the 1st or 2nd - allegedly due to the blizzard - you know how an OB - nursery floor is - try it for 5 days alone not knowing fully how your baby is doing - my ex took the long way down town and hemmed and hawwed telling me everything - they had tried to get him on room air for since they got him - at close to 8 pounds - well his room mates were less than 5 pounds - when we got upstairs - I had already gotten weak and dizzy beside the elevators - white as a sheet actually - we got up to the NICU - having worked in hospitals - my stomping ground - NICU is another world - I was weaving by the time I got there - they wanted me to wash hands and use betadine - which I am seriously allergic too - try getting checked for labor and feeling the whelps and itching start as soon as the gloved hand went in I asked one of the nurses if I could just use soap and water because of the allergy and she saw how white and wobbly I was they got me into the unit and was on an OHIO table - the special beds - I was holding on really hard to stay upright as his nurse filled me in - just before the room turned into a ferris wheel someone else shoved a chair under me he had gone on room air just as we left Baptist Hospital that morning that was the final straw for me trusting my ex - it took 6 years of a downhill slide and another two to file for divorce
