Sounds like maybe you are. Once a child has descent receptive language ABA programs should be switched from discrete trial to verbal behavior and only probe data should be recorded. When this is going well, teaching should move to natural environment teaching. How old is he? It sounds like it is time for part day general education. I pulled my son out of an ABA preschool program and put him in a speech and language program. He did much better there. Caryn > > Hello folks, > > DS's annual IEP review is in 2 weeks. Guest guest
Hi Ratan We have used fast forward. It has had the most outstanding results of any therapy we have done! and quite quickly - for 5months work of hard yakka I have to say, it really paid off. Big Big increase in speed of receptive language: he could fathom what someone said to him, and reply ! at last. I found it best when shared between home and school. we did the 50min protocol to complete 2 programs, and both language and language to reading. Lots of parents I know have recently done the 30mins one, and have burnt out after the 4months it takes to do the first program under this slower protocol. Hope this helps.! Guest guest
Thanks .I have yet to buy Fast Forward. So far I have only read about it in the book "Brain That Changes Itself" by Norman Doidge. So I don't know what is "50-minute protocol" as against the 30-minute one.I am motivated and encouraged by your report.Howmuch did you pay for Fast Forward? And did you buy it from Amazon or where?By Fast Forward you mean "Brain Fitness Program Total Training, audio, visual costing US$ 345, consisting of 6 computer exercisesor you mean "Posit-Science-Fitness Program-For-One-Person" costing US$ 189.99 ?Thanks. I will appreciate more education from you.Ratan.-----------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrition Soc. of India; Member ISOM- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A. (Psychol), Postgraduate Diploma in Medical & Social Psychology, Ph.D.;- Certified Behavior Therapist (from late Prof. J. Guest guest
Hi Ratan We purchased our program a few years ago, which is on a per month basis: pay by the month - was Ausamazon $250 a month for 5 months. The best money I have ever spent. We purchased it through a speech pathology agency in Sydney Australia. That is still the case if you want it now if in Sydney, but I belive now it is not a loadable program, as it was then, but you pay for website access, and the weekly reports are supposed to come to you via your email address, from the US. However all the parents that have used it recently that I know, complain that the weekly reports don't seem to come through! from The US !. But they could complain to the local co. and they would " fix it " . The Australian distributor is, that we did our through, you can cross check your info:-web links http://fastforword.rtrk.com.au/?scid=35459 & kw=4295326 & pub_cr_id=6857520401. http://www.fastforword.com.au/content_common/pg-what-is-fast-forword.seo The program was called " fast forword " , and has at least 6 exercises, or so. If you do it 50minute protocol, ie 50 minutes /day, you do 5 a day. If you do 30min protocol, you do 3 a day. They charge the same, no matter you do 30min or 50min. They charge in blocks of how long it might take your child to do.4mths if 30min/day/5 days a week, or 2 months 50min /day/5 days a week. Also the programs are largely about training auditory processing/speed. A few educational games have been added after this to enlarge its appeal/base I think. We saw the educational ones as a bonus, but the auditory games were for us where the change happened, and these were reeeeallly hard for a kid with auditory disorder, amongst other things. That's why I said it is good to share the load with school, and do some at both each day so you don't ruin your relationship with your child, and if also they are off sick, you can do it it at home. We did an extra month because of sick days, non compliance at school. It was better to share it, and easier on my child. More breaks, less pressure. We got there in the end. Auditory/language is now his best (devlopmentally speaking). I also found this link, but I am none the wiser at to the difference between the 2 different programs you mentioned. It seems fuzzy. http://www.positscience.com/about/news/archive/partnership-between-scientific-le\ arning-and-posit-science-expands-brain-fitness-p Happy to chat more. Let me know what you choose. cheers > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello folks, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > DS's annual IEP review is in 2 weeks. Guest guest
Thanks for your detailed mail. I am in India.I don't have a kid with the problem. My wife has hearing difficulty. Seventy percent gone in one ear and 50% in the other. She uses hearing aid. That aside, I believe all senior citizens need brain exercises. So I was exploring around. I have come across a guy who sells the Posit Science program and covers Sri Lanka and India. He has promised me to get back to me with the best price after I told him that the web based prices werecheaper than what he originally quoted. This book "Brain That Changes Itself" by Norman Doidge, MD, is wonderful and gives info' about Posit Science, Fast Forward and many others. For example it explains how blind people can "see" through the skin on their back!!!-------------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrition Soc. of India; Member ISOM- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A. (Psychol), Postgraduate Diploma in Medical & Social Psychology, Ph.D.;- Certified Behavior Therapist (from late Prof. J.
