Larry, thank you for posting this. Charlie was the first EMT I ever met

when he was in Fannin County, TX, with the contract service that Livadais

(?) had. I can't remember the name of it. But it had the contract for Fannin

County, and I was interested in EMS as a volunteer. Charlie was one of

those people who is an unforgettable character. He was in on the beginnings of

EMS, just as you, Larry, were, and he served well.

Charlie did a lot of good in his life, and he will be missed.

I remember him teaching me what a bundle branch block was. I had no idea

about EKGs, but he knew and he was always willing to share his knowledge.

He was a good soldier!

Just a line to let some of the old dogs out there know that Amelunke

I had a request for some of us old guys that worked with Charlie to speak

at his service. If you would be interested in doing this please contact me

and I will get you in touch with the right people.

Would that be Professional? I worked with Charlie dispatching at

Central a LONG time ago! Never forget when I went and bought lunch, I

took a deep hit in the wallet on his!

Sad to hear about his passing. Thanks for letting us know. Very nice

guy. Another Dinomedic gone.

Many memories of Charlie. Some I can share publicly. Charlie, like

most of us old dogs in EMS was a unique character. I first met

Charlie in May 1982. I was a whole 3 months out of EMT school. Went

to apply for a job at the Professional Ambulance office on Central

Expressway. I was greeted by this mountain of a man who treated me

like a son.

There are, obviously, many people who helped and encouraged me to get

where I am today. Without a doubt, Charlie is at the top of the list.

He encouraged me to go to paramedic school and then even further. I

will always remember Charlie with that clear glass coffee mug driving

the back streets of Dallas, never spilling a drop through sharp turns,

hard stops, speed bumps, and BIG dips.

He and Lividaus were instrumental in my life. I will never be

able to repay their encouragement and support. I wore both the

mustard yellow with black and the grey with black with Professional.

Through 911, transfers, and many medical examiner calls. I learned

from these.

Thank you Charlie, and thank you to his precious wife and kids. Bless

you for sharing him with us and so many you will never know.

Yes, Charlie touched many people throughout his career in EMS. I as well,

remember Charlie when I worked at Pro, being a snot-nosed EMT who was out to

save the world and pattern myself after Gage and Roy DeSoto. After my

tenure there, had the priviledge of working with Charlie again at Central along

with Steve Lemming. Ya know, Charlie LOVED those late night shows on the

satellite channels . . . What a character he was and the legacy he leaves

behind. Clearly he will be missed by many many people in EMS.
