Schertz EMS prides itself on its exceptional equipment, modern protocols, and a team of highly motivated care providers that respond to over 7,000 911 requests annually from four stations over 220 square miles of suburban and rural communities just outside San . These Paramedic positions require: A current Texas DSHS Certification or Licensure as a Paramedic. Candidates will be required to have a current health care provider CPR certification, ACLS certification, BTLS or PHTLS and a Pediatric Care Course. All candidates will be required to show proof of the above certifications. Prior Emergency Medical Service experience with emergency vehicle driving desired but we have had great success with brand new Paramedics with no experience at all, so feel free to apply and we will give you an opportunity. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Successful Full-Time applicants will be assigned to one of our 24-48 hour equivalent shifts that provide ample time off and a schedule ideal for furthering your education with consistent days off during the week and 4-day weekends every 3 weeks. Successful Part-Time applicants will be required to submit 96 hours of availability monthly, although assigned hours may be more or less than this amount. Now, for the most important part of the email...starting pay will be approximately $39,000 without working anything other than your assigned shift. Our benefit package is unbelievable with all benefits for you being paid by the city. These include health (PPO), dental, vision, an Employee Assistance Program, Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability, and then a variety of ala carte insurances you can pick up for a small pittance. In addition to this is one of the best retirement plans in the state. Our retirement is through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) and all Full-Time employees are required to put in 7% of your bi-weekly pay and the City matches that 2:1...in other words every payday, an amount equal to 21% of your salary goes into retirement. You become vested at 5 years and are eligible to retire at 20 years. Part-timers, your hourly rate will be $16.44 an hour and if you work enough, you too are eligible to participate in TMRS. Qualified candidates will be notified of testing dates after the close of the applications.
