Guest guest
I am a professional dancer/ choreographer in the Orange county area... and a Mom with a son that has " autistic like " symptoms... I want not a cent from my nonprofit...nor will I ever accept a cent but through my experience I started a non-profit this year to help others who can not afford biomedical or speech or Dans or anything they think there child needs... It is called HALO...Healing Autism though Learning and Opportunites I just got my 501c3 number two weeks ago..ya!!! The purpose: To use dance, which tells a story that is non-verbal (autism parallel , to raise money for parents who want to explore alternative options and can not afford the services. What is cool...Id like to keep the non-profit small so that 5-10 families get services for a year. Question: 1. Anyone out there in this group want to be involved??? 2. Any of you dancers/ choreographers? 3. We have SYTYCD winners perfroming, usc, uclas, long beach state, tons of studios, and hs 's in the area...any out there know of anyone else? I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting this...I am not gaining a thing...and I would be happy to donate to TaCa as well..I just felt that since all of you were as involved with autism as me would want to know i am doing this...and I wanted to give you all an opportunity to get involved or pass on the word...I would be happy to have Taca as a partner or give them a booth at the event or ad in the program...and I thought you all should know the opening number of the show is my special piece choreographed about my son...the song is " yellow " it is song by Sara Barielles...and it tells my story with my son...which culminates with me in prayer and angels rushing in to lift me and show me the answers are in the stars... " look at the stars...look how they shine for you, and everything that you do... " " I drew a line...I drew a line for you... " " I swam across...I jumped across of you... " " Did you know...For you I BLEED MYSELF DRY " " You know i love you so " Anyway...I wanted to share...if I am not allowed to do this I apologize...but I am fully hoping to support Taca though this endeavor and it is currently a small dream that will raise 50,000 its first year...which sadly only helps 5 kids... Let me know your thoughts...fellow warrior mamas....I am proud of this endeavor! Cami
Guest guest
Cami, you are a true earth angel! The light of my life, my son Landon, age 5 , and our 19 month old daughter, Grace are both autistic although our son presents more ADHD like symptoms 60% of the time. Anyhow, I had tears rolling down my checks reading your post since I attended a private girls school in Cleveland Ohio for 13 years, and was known as the "gifted choreographer and composer"......sort of the only thing I am good at,....am also very add but only a year ago realized me and my husband were neurologically very compromised which explains so much.....including our life situation currently, as we are on food stamps and barely making ends meet. Sigh. Hardest days of our lives because I went to college, majored in nutrition, psychology and music, but left because I couldn't focus or test well and got very overwhelmed. Mu family all but excommunicated me.....long story short, I did an online fundraiser to see Dr. Rossignol in Florida here, a dan doctor......raised 400 bucks which isn't enough to see him once......as the gas to get there is hundred plus. I have also thought homeopathy would be ideal for landon......but as I research about 5 hours a day with kids asleep since they need me every waking moment.......i learn about the hope for a cure but the impossibility of my power to obtain such a cure for my sweet boy. Its a huge sadness. If I could be considered for your program it would be a blessing of the highest order and we will donate someday when we are back on our feet to pay it forward. Please write back to danandalisabeth@... when you have the time. Guest guest
This is a bit off topic, but I figure I would add a suggestion. We have a four year old boy on the spectrum. Biomedical treatment can be very costly. We are beginning to see if we can get any help from any organization.I started to search and found this so far. http://www.autismsupportnetwork.com/resources/autism-grants-united-statesIt looks like there is work involved but no matter, we do what we have to help our children.Hope it helps,Ro To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex >; "danandalisabeth@..." Guest guest
And this is why I am doing this.... I so believe in this non-profit.. our first show is in june and i am uncertain the kinds of funds we will raise and our original idea was to help families in our school district...but you raise an interesting question.. should we scholarship one family through my many " groups " belong to on the internet...after all you are all my family already... I won't know until June the kind of money we will have but please, please, please, keep writing to me and check in. I'd love to help you > > Cami, you are a true earth angel! > The light of my life, my son Landon, age 5 , and our 19 month old daughter, Grace are both autistic although our son presents more ADHD like symptoms 60% of the time.
