Guest guest
I know that in Texas we have TCFP approved online fire academies and TxDSHS approved EMT-B and such courses but I've only heard a rumor that the same can be found for Peace Officer training. Does such an animal exist as a State certified entity? I have limited Internet here in Baku so if anyone can point me to the definitive answer to that question I'd appreciate it. Guest guest
I do know there are online Criminal Justice degrees, Lou, that allow you to get credit for your prior Academy and Military training toward the degree. Excelsior has one such program on our list. However, I am unsure about the Academy part. Guest guest
Since I have a TCFP Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator, I looked for a law enforcement online academy and could not find one. I talked to TrainingDivision.com about 4 months ago, a place wehere I am working on my advanced fire certifications, and was told the TCLEOSE has a bad taste in their mouth regarding on line programs. TraiiningDivision.com was looking into it but figured it could take them several years. Ed Walsh LP lnmolino@... wrote: > > Yea a CJ degree online is really easy to find. Guest guest
The specific link for Excelsior College's is https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/School_of_Liberal_Arts/Bachelors_Deg\ rees_in_Liberal_Arts/BS_with_a_Major_in_Criminal_Justice If you have folks who are interested, have them contact me. I will find out what I can through my sources and help facilitate things for them and see how much they can also do through iStudySmart to help reduce their overall expense and get them good study materials. Guest guest
I can believe that. They had approved my online EMS Instructor course for years as well as other programs and courses through other agencies and then jerked approval foronli ne CE (this happened about the same time as leadership changed in TCLEOSE). I went through the hurdles trying to get my course reapproved by the " new guy " but he wouldn't even really review it or discuss it. Guest guest
My information is a bit dated, but at one time to be allowed to attend a certification academy (which were all run or sponsored by a governmental entity like a county, city, the state, or a COG), you had to be sponsored by a law enforcement agency. And at one time you had to actually be an actual employee. lnmolino@... wrote: > Yea a CJ degree online is really easy to find. Lots of LEOs I know got their BS or BA via that route. Guest guest
I have looked at a couple of Community College based academies and did not see that as a requirement. An interview was required but not a letter of intent. I know that some of the DPS organizations required all three certifications before you could apply and I have met a couple of people that have all three and they stated they went through the police academy without a letter or a position awaiting.
