Guest guest Posted July 25, 2010 Report Share Posted July 25, 2010 yes but rem i cook Amish ok ,,,,1 big fat chicken4-6 potatoes peeled and diced2-4 pieces of celery1 tbsp salt1/2 tsp pepperparsleyyou can add other veg if you like, i put in some green beans to night( i had left overs) the Amish have a saying it goes like this ...a wife can though out more in a tsp then a man can bring in a shovel (sp )now the pot pie squares4 cups flour1 tsp salt2 tbsp butter ( i do use real butter)1 1/2 to 2 cup milk1 tsp baking power1 eggmix all and knead into a firm mixture, dust the place you are going to roll with some flower, like a cutting board or you counter . roll out and cut to the size you would like ..i cut at about 1-2 inch. sit a side to dry some.put your chicken in a big pot and cover with water ( i do add some can chicken stock, we will not tell the Amish ) add salt and pepper. cook until falls from the bones...about 2 hrs ( i know long time but you ask ) ..take meat out of the pot, and add the veg, cook until tender look 30 min or so ...as this is cooking i take the meat off the bones put the meat back in , bring to boil and add your pot pie squares, stir cook for about 15 min or so, you can bit one of the pot pie to see if it is done, i also have been know to add cream to mine ..you can cut this in 1/2 or you can add to it...like i said it is a very old thing...i have made this with ham and beef too...i wish you peace>>>debbi brant From: Sharon <wobbletowalk@ yahoo.com>Subject: What's for dinner?To: "Group" <mserslife@yahoogrou ps.com>Date: Sunday, July 25, 2010, 8:32 PM What's for dinner?Last night my son grilled pork steaks, baked potatoes and fresh corn on the cob. I thought you had to put dough in the bottom of your dish add veggies and meat and then put a top on top of the meat. It thickens up nice? I will have to try it.
