Guest guest
We got a prescription today for bethenacol from Dr. Megson to help my son focus and to calm him down. Has anyone had a good experience with this drug? Thanks, Soraya

Guest guest
We had a very good experience with bethenachol. We started with very very low doses to test her tolerances and built up slowly to 12.5mg x2 per day. We took it with cod liver oil as is supposed to work well together. My daughters speech really improved on this. We are thinking of going back onto it again. We are currently trying Namenda for speech (tried almost everything else before this) and it's the best speech improvement we have ever had. Guest guest
I am not sure how safe it is. However that said I did research it extensively looking for potential side effects and its use in young children. I proposed it to our neurologist and asked him to research it from his side and see if it was safe for my daughter. He came back and said it was worth a trial. We dosed very slow starting off 1/8 tof 5mg tablet every other day and then increased it to full dose at 3 months x5 mg twice a day. We saw very good results with speech, my daughters speech is appropriate but extremely apraxic and making sentences is very hard for her too.. We also noticed it vastly improved her memory and recall. She started to share events that happened at school she had never done before. She started to learn to read at this time, by no means perfect but more than we dared to hope for. During my research there were mentions of some children experiencing aggression and some agitation and some sleep loss. Many said the aggression tapered off after a couple of weeks, but some said the side effects remained and had to come off it. There has been a thread before in this group so check for old posts too. It would be worth a try for all the gains but would advise to start very slow and monitor carefully each child is so very different it's hard to know what might happen. I found out about it through someone whose child had been given it to by Dr Reinbeck I think in NY. > > can I ask how safe is Namenda? and what they prescribed that for your kid?
