Guest guest
Lanie, Here are some things to take into consideration: 1.? Canopy should be 15' or higher and as open on all sides as possible to allow good airflow to remove exhaust fumes as much as possible.? If your approaches to the covered area create an incline or decline to get under the canopy, then this should be adjusted. 2.? The parking surface is big enough to allow for 4 or 6 units to park there and still have room for vehicles to drive by or get out and leave.??For vehicle width, plan on 1.5?standard parking spaces (approx 15 feet) and the length of 2 standard parking spaces.? You can have additional parking area outside of the covered area for over-flow that can be used unless it is really inclement weather. 3.? The parking surface needs to be LEVEL and not tilt one way or the other, side to side or front to back. 4.? Any and all fresh air intakes for the hospital need to be located as far away as possible from the ambulance entrance.? 150 feet or further from the closest possible spot that an ambulance can be left idling.? 5.? Entrance doors need to be equipped with positive pressure air devices so that when doors open, air is forced out into the ambulance bay and not drawn into the building 6.? The entire parking area should be under video recorded surveillance I think that is about all I can think of tonight.? Good luck on your project. Guest guest
I am not aware of any ambulances that will not fit under the cover at Parkland or Childrens. Several departments run medium duty chassis and have extended headroom but to my knowledge they all fit. Lee Re: ambulance clearances Good thing I have connections, cuz I really have no idea.
