What a weird/sad (on multiple levels) day...

So today has been pretty weird. I heard about Davy passing away

and that kinda bummed me out because I loved the Monkees when I was a

kid. As I said on Echobabe's post, it was something that made me

happy in a time that wasn't very happy.

Then, I heard that... *shudder*... Snookie... is spawning. Oh. God. Help. Us!

I wonder if other folks here feel the same way about that stupid

show... Jersey Shore. More specifically, if the people on the show

give you the heebie jeebies. I have never seen the show, but it's

impossible to avoid any talk of those people this day in age. Browse

the news online, and bam... there they are. Use facebook? Bam... find

out Snookie is pregnant.

I remember about a year or so ago when I was reading about NPD being

removed from the DSM-V, the article had a picture of Snookie on it and

talked about how it was becoming more " normal " in our society for

people to be narcissistic. I think that's why that show & the people

on it disturb me so much! Because they really are so selfish & self

centered. And these are the types of people our society puts on a

celebrity pedestal? It's enough to make me want to evacuate the

planet.

Anyway, I'm off on a bit of a tangent here, but really was wondering

if other people get that " ew " feeling when they think about Jersey

Shore & the people on it. It's the same " ew " feeling I get when I

interact with anyone in real life who possesses strong personality

disordered features.

Can't just be me here, can it?

Sorry, due to aforementioned tangent... a point I forgot to make was

how bad I feel for that kid she's carying!!!! And can't help but

wonder if the child is headed down the same type of road or if s/he

will veer off into actual humanity. >.<
