Guest guest
New blood coming to MedStar EMS - Fort Worth. http://www.wkbt.com/Global/story.asp?S=9196135 Tri-State Ambulance Director Leaving for Texas Posted: Oct 17, 2008 01:16 PM CDT Updated: Oct 17, 2008 01:16 PM CDT Matt Zavadsky likens it to going from Triple A baseball to the big leagues. The director of operations of Tri-State Ambulance confirms he has accepted a similar job with MedStar EMS in Fort Worth, Texas, the 12th largest emergency medical services system in the country. " They cover 14 cities, and go on more than 100,000 calls a year, " Zavadsky says. " This is an opportunity I could not pass up. " His last day with Tri-State will be November 7. Zavadsky says he will be replaced on an interim basis by Tom Tornstrom. Zavadsky has been with Tri-State Ambulance since December 2006. He says Tri-State is unique from other providers in that it is a non-profit organization that works without a subsidy, and the clinical performance of its paramedics is better than many other providers around the country. One issue Zavadsky has worked closely on during his time in La Crosse is the discussion surrounding ambulance service and the city's desire to take over control of ambulance services. " The entire community and workforce has been empowered to learn how the EMS system works in the La Crosse area, " Zavadsky says. " The community has taken initiative to be an active part of the discussion. " __________________________________________________

Guest guest
We too believe that Matt will be a positive influence to the MedStar EMS system. Unfortunately what Matt has no control over is the continued increase in calls. Running 300 - 400 calls a day would tax any system. Sometimes we have as many as 20 - 30 calls running at one time with continued 911 calls coming in. Since we do treat and transport anyone who calls 911, including stubbed toes and hangnails ( I transported a hang nail a few weeks ago), an increase in Paramedics would be awesome. Although there is a national shortage of Paramedics in the nation, retention has improved. We are looking forward to Matt joining the team.
