Guest guest
Hi All, My husband and I are looking for advice on starting valtrex with our son this spring/summer. We have completed 50 rounds of AC chelation in the last 18+ months with our son, who turns 5 in May. We are on R#51 this w/e, but will stop AC before starting antifungals and antivirals. I am thinking about starting antifungals in April/May and then Valtrex in June to give us the summer to get past possible neg. reactions. Is 1 month enough of antifunglas alone? Any advice on which antifungals to choose? I love our current DAN, he is very encouraging, but follows what I say, with few ideas of his own, so I need to arm myself with correct doses with fluconazole or nizoral. Wondering if fluconazole has fewer side effects? I am nervous to restart an rx antifungal, because a previous DAN put my son on Nystatin and fluconazole 2 years ago which gave him bad diarrhea and a high fever. Maybe after all the yeast aid, probiotics and AC it won't be so bad? Anyone else who did AC first and then valtrex, could you share your success? My son has also been on MB12 shots (3* per wk) for 2.5 years now. As far as progress, he has done well with AC so far. His motor skills were always good, his stimming is gone (he used to do the eye stim), his allergies are gone, he sweats now, he plays with his brother and is starting to talk to other kids in the playground. His speech is hard to understand at times, esp /f/ and /s/. He likes to be alone a lot after school and ignores me when he gets off the bus, running into the backyard. He is also very limited in his diet, which leads me to believe he still has yeast issues. Am I just being too knit-picky or should I go ahead and try this? Are there any possible long-term side effects? I am felling nervous about trying this, yet I see so many good results that I almost have to. Thanks so much! Guest guest
Also- how long a course do most kids do on antivirals? My husband is game to try, but won't go for this for more than 1 year. Is there any cause to worry about losing speech gains we have seen with AC chelation? DS's speech has come a long way in 18 months, but I look at Stan's video and think, wow; we haven't come that far! Sometimes I look at my son and I see a regular kid and then other times I see him struggle to " use his words. " He can answer most of my questions, even " why " questions. To give an idea of his progress on AC, his baseline ATEC score 18 months ago was 75 and now it is 12. Thank you so much! Kris
