I happened to listen to Phil Ochs musical adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Bells" right after listening to the choral symphony by Sergej Rachmaninov based on the same poem (the blessings of letting iTunes chose the music...). I hadn't reflected on the fact that both works, kind of different in style and genre, are based on the same poem before. But I did now. And I wondered, are there more musical versions of that poem. I would be very interested to know, and to be able to compare them too. And...here's where you come in... I was thinking that since Edgar Allan Poe was American, perhaps you Americans on the list would know of more musical adaptions of the poem. Any tips?love/Reb
