Guest guest
The therapy department at 's old school was wonderful so that helped to make up for the abusive teacher. The therapist used a weighted vest for and it always calmed her down. said it felt good. SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. If he does something wrong, which is very rare, he will punish himself. Just now he did something "wrong", which could have damaged his bike but thankfully did not. When I went past his PC just now, he wasn't there. Where are you? He was in his closet! He self-punishes! It is SO cute there are no words....I told him that was not necessary...damn but he is just such an awesome kid! ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ Pragmatic Visionary http://www.affiliates-natural-salt-lamps.com/pages/156.php
Guest guest
Hi Akiba,....this reminds me of a movie I watched about a gal that was Autistic and very intelligent. [see description below] After she had studied the way the cattle was being treated inhumanly she developed a system to calm them down. Then she built a similar pen for herself that she could crawl into and grab a lever to squeeze herself to calm herself down whenever she felt overwhelmed. It was a rather crude structure, but she said she felt safe and comforted in there. So I was thinking maybe the room being padded and the blanket being weighted was a means to help Robbin to feel safe and comforted. Now if it was just a place to put him because she didn't want to be bothered with helping him that was wrong. Anyhow, did you ask him why he chose the dark closet, and how did it make him feel. Its obvious your hugs help him feel safe, but as far as the school goes, and other children who have disorders of similarities a human touch is not comforting to them. Am I off the mark here? Here's the description of the movie. Temple Grandin 2010NR120 minutes Emmy winner Claire Danes stars as Temple Grandin, a brilliant young woman coping with the stigma of autism at a time when it was misunderstood. With the support of her loving family, Temple dedicates herself to learning and becomes a famed animal behaviorist. Her passion for animals gives her a unique ability to understand them, and she fulfills her love of education by teaching about autism and the most humane ways to treat livestock and pets. Guest guest
Yes Kate it is a true story, and I got it from Netflix. I don't know if it can be streamed as I just get mine thru the mail. Clare Danes played Temple and she is such a good actress and did an excellent job of protraying her. I think it said at the end that Temple was still teaching today. Guest guest
I'm sorry, I was just trying to think of why anyone would do that to a child and think it was okay unless they thought it would help them? But then again there are some bad things that happen at schools all the time. :-( Hugs, Jackie Subject: RobbinTo: mserslife Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2011, 9:13 PM Robbin is the only kid I have ever heard of who "self-punishes".
