Guest guest
About the neighbor's dog.... His name is Cobra and he is a big dog that the owners said was mean. He is still on his big long, heavy chain. I don't know what to do about him. He is friendly with my son and dil and with the grandkids. My grandkids walk over every single day, rain or shine (or snow:), to give him fresh water, food and some attention. His people moved to Colorado and they call once in awhile to ask about the house, but they don't ask about Cobra. They paid for two bags of dog food in the first few months. I have paid for his food for 14 months now. I could call the county animal control but they would put him down because he is rumored to be mean. I have thought about calling the humane society or Pet Allies. The problem is he is not mine to dispose of or give away. If I call the sheriff about it they will contact animal control. We can't have Cobra here because he is not neutered and we have dogs that he would fight with. I don't know how old he is but he is at least 5 years old.My grandkids take care of him the best they can. He has a dog house and an old bathtub turned upside down that he gets in for shelter. I hate the idea of him being out there in the snow/ice for another winter but I don't know what is the best thing to do. So that's the story of the neighbor's dog. Sad situation, isn't it? Guest guest
my opinion - they lost their right to Cobra with what they pulled - try a rescue group - there is on in the four corners area that has a program on the animal channel Micheal Vick's worst went there and they rehabbed them it is no kill if the ex owners ask later - he broke the chain - just talk to him and explain you can't keep him but he is going with friends and he will have a nice home - he is a good boy - confused - he sees y'all as family To: MSersLife Sent: Sat, July 31, 2010 1:53:49 PMSubject: About the neighbor's dog....Re: our storm and it's after effects About the neighbor's dog.... Guest guest
I'd call the nearest dog rescue operation and tell them the story, with a " gee, it would almost be better if someone came and STOLE him " thrown in - the poor dog isn't going to get any nicer being so isolated... Sad to say - and I know the grandkids are giving him all the attention they can! - he'd be better off euthanized than this. Too bad can't euthanize the owners, to keep them from ever having another animal. in WY Practical Blackwork Designs " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Guest guest
How sad. Would the neighbors maybe call the humane society and give permission for them to take him? Guest guest
Last year some other people the 'owners' know had taken Cobra to their house. The owners came back from Colorado and called the cops to go get the dog back. Then they asked us to take care of the dog and bought a small bag of dog food. So I know they will try to call the cops on us if the dog disappears. I have been thinking about this and I appreciate all the ideas you have all given me. I plan on calling around this coming week to see what I can do for this poor dog. What is it with my family? Guest guest
I keep thinking the same thing, Akiba. I have their phone number and they have called 2 or 3 times when they wanted something from us. The last time they were here my son pointed out to them the house had a hole in the roof. He told them if they would go get some plastic sheeting he would put a temporary patch on the roof to prevent more damage. They didn't do that but said they would be back in a month to take care of it. (never came back). The roof is caved in now and the entire house is trashed. What the heck? Can you believe that? Anyway, I guess they wouldn't know anything about the dog after all. SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Sharon is there any place there that monitors the conditions of houses etc? I know in some towns there are town board members that will go look at a place if someone complains and if they deem it unlivebable down it goes. If the grass is over grown you either cut it or get fined. You might want to look into that. Guest guest
We are so far out in the country and no one does that here. One plus to that house being unlivable is that we won't have to put up with anyone living next door unless major, major repairs are done! We like our quiet here. Cobra's house is the only neighbor house we can see from our house! There are other houses around here but we can't see them because the trees are too thick. Perfect! Anne, you mean none of Vick's dogs had to be put down? *fingers crossed*. Another thing I'm surprised the township or whatever it's called there doesn't consider the old building a potential fire hazard or squatters den and tear it down?
