Hi WTO,

Carolyn Hax has a very validating article for KOs today:

She's great at phrasing things. One thing she says here really helps me--when a

parent forces a child to take care of themselves, the child earns the right to

do that job. Exactly! We all have the right to avoid parental abuse, clear and

simple.

I love Carolyn Hax!

And I love this, it's so poignent. In a million years never would I have been

able to extract this truism.

right to keep it. That means you're free to go into any event involving your

dad, no matter how significant, with an eye to what's best for you. Guilt-free. "

So if the sick parent made it so that you had to protect yourself from them it

infacto gave your permission to always do so. Beautiful.
