Good Grief, Akiba! Here in California, no school can do that. The kid is sent to have a little chat with the Principal or Assistant principal, who then sends a letter to the parent or parents, or even phones the primary adult or parent and even lets the kid tell his versionof it to the parent--or her version. I am so sorry that this happened to sweet Robbin. No wonder he is so happy with homeschooling! You are one terrific Mom--never forget that, and I am so glad that it was not Rob norKathy!Hug one another and please accept heaps of love from me,nTo: MSersLife Sent: Wed, January 19, 2011 2:11:30 PMSubject: Re: Robbin

Ok, I am calmer. Sometimes as a parent one has to remember to *breathe*.

I asked him if his "need" to self-punish stemmed from something that might have happened when he was at Kathy's. Well, it was and it wasn't. It was, because it happened while he was there, and it wasn't because it came from his SCHOOL, not from Rob or Kathy.

Apparently they would put him in a "time-out" room, which was basically a padded cell.

When he did or said something perceived as "wrong", they would put him in there. Granted, for only 5-10 mins at a time, but apparently long enough that it left the impression that he needed to self-punish. They would make it seem like he had the choice whether to go in to not, but it really wasn't a choice, because it was the room or actual punishment (docking privileges type of thing, not spanking, they can't do that). I asked him what part of his time there was spent in the room, he said about 25-30% of it...(remember...*breathe*...). Hopefully that is an exaggeration.

I hugged him and told him he does not need to EVER self-punish. EVER. As was brought up offlist, self-punishment can lead to things like cutting, and I NEVER want him to go there. EVER.

Robbin is the only kid I have ever heard of who "self-punishes". If he does something wrong, which is very rare, he will punish himself. Just now he did something "wrong", which could have damaged his bike but thankfully did not. When I went past his PC just now, he wasn't there. Where are you? He was in his closet! He self-punishes! It is SO cute there are no words....I told him that was not necessary...damn but he is just such an awesome kid!

I'm just sitting here crying at the thought of it. My poor sweet baby. I won't let him see me cry about it, I need to reinforce that it is NOT necessary to harm himself, in ANY way.
