Robbin is the only kid I have ever heard of who "self-punishes". If he does something wrong, which is very rare, he will punish himself. Just now he did something "wrong", which could have damaged his bike but thankfully did not. When I went past his PC just now, he wasn't there. Where are you? He was in his closet! He self-punishes! It is SO cute there are no words....I told him that was not necessary...damn but he is just such an awesome kid!

I DO homeschool, I did before Rob took him and I do again now, but while he was with Rob and Kathy, THEY sent him to school. SO no, you don't have it wrong, you got it right sis!

time out is on a chair in the back of the room - not locked in a closet God, grant me the strength of eagles wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to carry me there.

When I was in 6th grade, I went to a school in south Texas where all the rooms

opened onto a breezeway and lawn instead of corridors. The teacher, when you

were disruptive enough to be a pain but not disruptive enough for a swat (ah,

the good old days!) would make you carry your desk and sit outside the room.

One day, he looked up and realized that almost 100 percent of the class was

out on the grass in the sunshine, and decided maybe that punishment had lost its

sting... :-)

You know, there's something stuck in the back of my memory that a few minutes in

a room like that would really be helpful for a SPECIFIC problem - attachment

disorder? Something I can't remember - but ONLY for that, and ONLY as a last

resort - kids who get so violent that they're a danger to themselves and

everybody else, and need to be confined or restrained until the episode passes.

This does NOT apply to somebody talking in class, or wiggling, or whatever

else happens to be annoying the teacher at any given moment. Having to resort

to such punishment is just plain bad teaching.

Yes, but Robbin is not violent, not in the least, and certainly does not have any reason to EVER be locked in a padded cell!!!! Not even for 5 mins!
