Hi everyone,

havnt posted here for a while.

we ran an IGg test for my four year old son who was on gaps/SCD/LOW

OXALATE/LIMITED PHENOLS diet for almost two years.i thot that we have achieved

some healing as his gut was really bad so we moved to GF/CF in december last

year.we did the IGg and it was terrible.he is allergic to too many things

including rice.Even the DAN admitted that the result is pretty bad.I dont know

what to do n ow,im have excluded the things he is allergic to for about three

weeks now but i dont see a difference.i eill keep on for the next two weeks and

if things dont change,i will just reintroduce the things he is allergic to

because i have been reading that if the behaviour of the child does not change

after one removes stuff, introduce it back because it doesnt make a difference.

please i need your advice urgently.his food is limte to

chicken, lamd, corn, avocado, carrots, brocoli.this cant be fair on a 4yr old after

going through GAD.SCD.LOW OX for almost two years.

please let me know your take.

thank you

Jamila,I'm so sorry your boy is still having a hard time. Don't give up, there are things you can try. You've been at this for years, so you've probably been up and down this road a billion times, but I'll throw some suggestions out there just in case:Have you considered using probiotics and perhaps digestive enzymes? (Check out enzymestuff.com. There's also a good enzymes yahoo group). Is he able to tolerate a good multi?I would start chelation NOW. Despite the fact that many doctors want "to get the gut in order" before starting chelation, many parents report little to no gut improvement until actually starting chelation. Also, do you know what

his measles titers look like? There's a chance they could be living comfortably in his gut. Which can be addressed w/ high dose vitamin A protocol. How about parasites? Liver support is important. Is he able to absorb the nutrients from his food and supplements? What is his pooping situation like?Tammy To: mb12valtrex Sent: Thursday, March 29, 2012 5:13 AM Subject:

Hi Jamila,Big hugs to you! That must have been so deflating to receive that news. We are on GAPS, so I know how hard you have been working!! I actually found Dr. Natasha -McBride's FAQ to be extremely helpful, about tailoring the diet. Some people find healing on a zero carb diet. Check this out: http://www.gaps.me/preview/?page_id=32 Hmmm. Unfortunately, you'll have to search through the page; I couldn't find a direct link to the question about zero carb diet.

Jamila, I think it might be worthwhile to send Dr. C-McB an email; she seems quite open to answering concerns.Tammy mentions some very important concerns. Looking at stool is helpful. Juicing is another GAPS-legal path to explore regarding parasites. In our experience, my family needs some juicing combined with very low carbs. The foods we eat are highly nourishing (fats, bone broths, meats, eggs), and the juicing of greens (in particular) is so very healing to the gut and to the BLOOD.

I will be thinking about you and your family. Jean

Hi, Jamilla-

A similar thing happened to us, in that we went GFCF without working on healing his leaky gut first, and subsequently he developed sensitivities and allergies to everything we had substituted in, including Rice, Beef, Coconut, Almond, etc. I found that Aloe Vera juice, Colostrum Gold, and probiotics have gone a long way towards helping heal the lining of his intestines, and have made it so that he can even have the occasional gluten infraction without having the enormous physical and behavioural reaction he had previously. He can also eat everything on the above list with no problem whatsoever. Keep working on healing that gut, you can repair those little microperforations.

Good luck,

Jamila, have you tried an immunomodulator like LDN (or even OLE served as a pretty good immunomodulator for us)?  The thing is, you might not be seeing a difference in just removing the reactive foods because the result of eating a lot of reactive foods over a long time is often systemic inflammation.  You might also want to look into a good anti inflammatory right now.  Underlying inflammation will also make allergies worse.

Jamila,

You've been at this for years, so you've probably been up and down this road a billion times, but I'll throw some suggestions out there just in case:

Have you considered using probiotics and perhaps digestive enzymes? (Check out enzymestuff.com. There's also a good enzymes yahoo group).

Is he able to tolerate a good multi?

I would start chelation NOW. Despite the fact that many doctors want "to get the gut in order" before starting chelation, many parents report little to no gut improvement until actually starting chelation.

Liver support is important. Is he able to absorb the nutrients from his food and supplements?

What is his pooping situation like?

I know this is going to sound weird but my son's IgG test was tested before he was treated for yeast then after 3 months of being on both Dyflucan AND Nystatin, his IGg came way down in everything except baker's yeast and brewers yeast and milk. My DAN doc at the time said when yeast is very high and metals are high your IgG goes up and you are sensitive to more foods. Before yeast treatment he was allergic to EVERYTHING except rice, turkey and pork at the time my DAN said do the yeast treatment and stay away from everything super high on the IgG.
