Guest guest
I've been quiet since reading about Robbin. This has brought up some bad memories. What happened to Robbin reminds me of what happened to my granddaughter, , when she was in public school. Kate has Aspergers and was in a special ed class. She had a lousy teacher who made her sit in a little dark room when she didn't do her work like she was supposed to. Kate was scared to death to go to school but we didn't know why. She finally told me what was happening. Sitting in the little dark room wasn't the worst that happened to her. This teacher pinched. Yep, pinched! The school gave us all so much grief when we complained. Finally I contacted the governor's office and they got an advocate for us who tried to help Kate. The school administration and the school board stuck with the teacher and wouldn't do anything to protect Kate. So we pulled her and her siblings out of school and started homeschooling. We have never, ever regretted that decision. Kate has recovered from the abuse she suffered at the hands of that teacher. Our big, major regret is that we didn't pursue legal action or go to the police. hugs to Robbin! SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
What terrible memories, Sharon. That is so very, very sad and troubling that your granddaughter had to endure such a thing. Poor . Thank God for you and your ability and generous spirit to homeschool not just , but all your grandchildren, or at least those that live with you.Legal action may have put a cab-bash on the continuance of such abuse. Guest guest
Thanks Kate. I do regret not making a police report against that abusive teacher. Several years later I heard that she was in trouble again for abusing other children. By the time we pulled out of school we were all so raw with the emotions of the whole situation that none of us could face anything else. But that does sound like a major cop-out, doesn't it?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
No Sharon! I did NOT mean to imply that you were copping out in any way. The mere shock of what happened probably put you all into a tail spin. I would have been so overwhelmed, I more than likely would not have reported either. So glad she has emotionally healed from that horrid experience.love,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Fri, January 21, 2011 2:28:50 PMSubject: Re: Robbin (and ) Thanks Kate. Guest guest
The things that happened to Robbin and made me very sad as I read your emails. I am a Special Ed teacher and I work hard each and every day to make sure my students are treated well and not humiliated in any way. I am sorry that they had such bad experiences at school. Teaching Special ed is not always easy and the students are sometimes very hard to deal with. I have several behavior kids that wear me out with their anger but I know that I can walk out the room and take a deep breath.... and then try again. I wish that both Robbin and would have had a good teacher !!
