Guest guest
Hi, I haven't ever heard anyone talk about this technique. My therapist taught it to me when I was unable to cope any longer w my BP mother. I didn't at that time realize my mother was BP, I was in such a cycle of chaos I couldn't make heads of tails of anything. She taught this to me and it works so well. I wasn't able to release the walking on eggshell feeling, knots in my stomach, and pissy-ness. It was taking all my energy just to function that I wasn't being the best mom I could be to my toddlers (I'm an at home mom) and I needed a way to release this pent up anxiety/hostility/screaming inside. I am usually very good about being able to see bs for bs and putting it aside. But I was to a point that I just couldn't move on in my day and it would continue into the next day. (nightmares in between) It was like I was so stimulated inside that I couldn't find peace. Any how, tapping is totally easy to do. I can even do it in the car after she calls. I think for me the direct stimulation (tapping at nerve bundles) along with naming my feeling (validating my feelings to myself) is enough to 'reset' me. It usually takes me about three cycles (tapping hard) to dissipate my feelings of turmoil and I am settled again. This as been the only coping technique that make me feel like I have some control over my own feelings immediately after the hurricane has passed. Anyhow, I love it!
