Guest guest
I have a drawer full of finished Just Nan's, Drawn Thread, Long Dogs, etc. that I can't afford to frame. I've got to learn how to do it myself, do you use spacers and do you lace them? My feeble attempts at lacing a few were terrible . I also wish I had a sewing machine so I could back some bellpulls I've got in the pile ... hugs, Cait New Stuff [1 Attachment] Been quiet because all my braincells are needed on the drawing board.Attached is the first finish of the new stuff - in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.comhttp://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com "You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..." Guest guest
I'm poor (and once I've stitched it I'm itching to move on to the next thing!!!) so most of my models are framed in good old $3 Walmart photo frames (Bear in mind that my blackwork is without raised stitches!) The cardboard in these is really not good for fabric (or photos, for that matter!) so if you can lay hands on archival cardboard to replace it, that would be good; I also have a couple that are mounted on a kind of sticky board made for the purpose, but I have no idea what it's called! And the store is gone now... :-( But anyway, most things I kind of stretch by putting it into the frame and adding enough stuff into the back to mash it against the glass... ;-) I'd say pick up a cheap frame you like, and experiment with a bit of needlework you're not that fond of un case it doesn't work the first time! Don't tell any needlework purists that, they'd have a stroke! Some day, maybe Practical Blackwork makes enough money that I can have things professionally framed! Guest guest
I avoid purists too . I remember my first stichings ... those small Paragon and Sunset xs or crewel kits I'd always get at least one of at Christmas. I just used the cardboard in the package, bought a cheap frame and used plain old Elmer's glue! For shame upon me, they would never last several generations. In fact I've no idea where they went. What really does surprise me is your using aida. I hate it and I can't imagine stitching such a beautiful design on it. Keep up the great designing and you will make it! ... hugs, Cait RE: New Stuff * I'm poor (and once I've stitched it I'm itching to move on to the nextthing!!!) so most of my models are framed in good old $3 Walmart photoframes (Bear in mind that my blackwork is without raised stitches!) Guest guest
The Aida was the last piece of embroidery fabric in the house, we're flat broke, and I needed to get a model stitched so the design could go " into production " . Otherwise, trust me, it would never have seen my " Millefiori " ! ;-D laughing in WY Practical Blackwork Designs http://practicalblackwork.com http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return...
