My 2 1/2 year old son has been on Nystatin for a month and a half and have seen

no side effects from it. He takes 1/2 tsp twice a day.

He probably is not tolerating nystatin. Or he has a stomach virus. May be take

him off for few days and then try on a weekend and see how he reacts.

Good luck

We did not have die off like this from Nystatin, but we did have it when we

started the Specific Carbohydrate Diet which causes bacterial and fungal die

off. The child who reacted this way started with hyperactive behavior, then got

highly irritable and emotional, then vomited three separate times all in the

course of a day. He had no other signs of illness and it had passed by the next

day.

Thanks for all your responses....Day 3 (yesterday) I stayed off nystatin..no throwing up.

Day 4 (today, no nystatin again) In the morning my son threw up again and had diarrhea.

All

your responses make me think that throwing up can occur during the die off phase...what about diarrhea? Did anyone experience that?

Just trying to figure our that by sheer coincidence is this a stomach virus? or the nystatin!

Thanks again.
