Guest guest
I was at my son's baseball game...I was watching a father with his son. The boy could not hit a baseball if his life depended on it. When he struck out, his dad patted him on the back and said " Shake it off, piece of cake. " I thought about that all day...and then told my husband and anyone who would listen about what I heard. COMPASSION. REASSURANCE. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. A SOFT PLACE TO LAND. How easy was that to make his kid feel better. I have never heard comforting words like this from my parents. How powerful parents' words are. Guest guest
Truly. Parents have such profound power to influence their children's emotional health (the younger the child, the more abjectly vulnerable the child is, and the more power the parent has)... that parenthood should be considered, in a way, a sacred trust. In my opinion, anyway. -Annie > > I was at my son's baseball game...I was watching a father with his son. > The boy could not hit a baseball if his life depended on it. > When he struck out, his dad patted him on the back and said " Shake it off, piece of cake.
