Guest guest
More snow! I have to say I'm glad it's not me:) I love to look at the snow and I don't go outside in it so I don't know why I don't want snow. lol Have fun and don't overdo with shoveling the stuff. Okay?I am lucky that my bread almost always turns out. I don't know if you are kneading too much or not enough. Have you ever tried one of those no-knead recipes? Do you have a big dutch oven? Check out this page from Mother Earth News on no-knead breads: http://www.motherearthnews.com/search.aspx?search=no%20knead%20breadThe grandkids all like split pea soup. I know I'm lucky with that because it is such a cheap meal! Today I called it "Goblin Soup" because they have been watching the Spiderwick movie. Challis used to make split pea soup for her boys when the Mutant Ninja Turtles was big on TV and she called it 'Turtle Soup'. I love soup of any kind and could probably live on it only. lollove SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. It is supposed to start sometime tonight--we had flurries earlier today that coated everything about an inch or so, but tonight's they are predicting anywhere from 8 to 12 inches, though they keep changing the predictions. The kids are already planning for no school tomorrow; my 13 year old daughter is more than likely going to stay overnight at her best friend's house who lives right across the street. My 11 year old may be scheming to stay over his friend's who lives right down the street. They get a total of 7 snow days in the school district; they used 3 I think so far. If this weather pattern doesn't break, they'll be using those days up fast!As far as dinner goes, Lloyd bought some ribs, poured BBQ sauce on them, and is slow cooking them in the crockpot. I'll make some rice to go with, and some cooked spinach will complete the meal! Maybe I'll make a batch of brownies; kids always love those.Your bread sounds delish, Sharon! You must be a good bread maker. Mine (in the past, as I've given up on it) used to come out hard as bricks---the crust too thick and tough, and the center too coarse. Someone once told me that means I'm kneading it too much. Do all the grandkids like peasoup? My kids would surely turn their noses up. As it is, they don't much like any soup at all! Chili is the closest thing to soup that they'll devour.Your house must smell good. I'm slowly beginning to smell the aroma of the ribs...Gets your saliva going big time!I'm going to go put the news on and catch the weather and see if they've changed any thoughts on this storm.I love you, and all my terrific friends here--whatcha all doin' for dinner?KateTo: Group <mserslife >Sent: Wed, January 26, 2011 2:31:09 PMSubject: extra grandkids here and FOOD! My daughter's two girls (7 and 10) came over yesterday to spend a week with me and the other grandkids. So there are five granddaughters here total now. The others are 8, 13, and 14. Right now all the girls are up on the top of the property playing "Spiderwick". I can hear the occasional hoot and holler:)I have a pot of homemade split pea soup on the stove and it is smelling GOOD. I think I will make some garlic bread to go with it. Yesterday I made a quadruple batch of whole wheat bread. I formed some of the dough into a large pan of rolls that we had hot with our supper last night. Tonight I think I will make pork chops simmered in a mushroom sauce. I have some fresh cauliflower to steam, too. What's going on at your house?hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
