The news article says that there were 5 people in the ambulance at the time

and they all only suffered minor injuries. Does that include the one in

" cardiac arrest? "

Austin ambulance in accident; police say other car ran red light

An ambulance taking a man in cardiac arrest to the hospital Monday

morning was hit by another car at an intersection in North Austin.

Austin/ County EMS spokesperson Warren Hassinger said the

ambulance had responded to a man found unresponsive under the bridge.

The ambulance was crossing through the intersection of Research

Boulevard and Olhen Road when another car ran a red light and t-boned

it, Hassinger said. Hassinger also reported that driver did not have a

driver’s license or insurance.

The ambulance had to wait 10 minutes for another to arrive to the scene.

Five people were inside of the ambulance at the time, and all only

suffered minor injuries.

I trust that the patient was a viable one (having some type of

electrical activity or a returned pulse). Surely A/TC has a field

termination of resuscitation protocol. I shudder to think that this

accident could have been worse and they could have been transporting a

non-viable patient.
