Guest guest
Greetings from Minnesota...I am 48, female and a single mother (widow) of two. My oldest (son) is 24, and my youngest (daughter) is 11. She is bi-polar, autistic and has low vision and takes a LOT of energy every day. My symptoms are kind of all over the place, I tend to stumble and fall especially when tired or when I got to hot/warm. I get weird muscle twinges or pains that stick around for a few weeks to several months and then go away. The problems that annoy me the most are the mental ones. I have decreased short term memory and have problems recalling names and sometimes certain words. I have to make special plans to make sure I know what I am supposed to do each day and to make sure my pocket of notes gets transcribed to my calendar so I don't forget to be where I need to. I also can forget what I am doing and have to use timers in case I get distracted and forget I am cooking:( About 7 years ago,my husband passed away and I had a gastric by pass and lost 150 pounds. I didn't realize my vitamin D level had gotten really low (I had lost the ability to absorb vitamin D and have to take it sub-lingual ). Two years ago I noticed my memory was getting really bad. I was taking college classes and found that instead of just being able to absorb the information, I was having to reread chapters three and four times. I got super sick (pneumonia) and then after that I start having problems with balance and became fatigued easily. At first my doctor thought it was fybromalalsia and then that I had asthma. After switching doctors, and after learning I don't have asthma and that I have an 'undiagnosed neurological condition' I am going to be tested on August 24 to find out what I have. My guess is MS. I have other symptoms, but they come and go ... Kay Re: NEW MEMBER -- wyldthymesmn Welcome to the group! What kind of symptoms are you having? Fill us in! Guest guest
Dear KayI am sorry you have need of a group like this but I am so glad you found us! I have a 14 y/o granddaughter who is on the Autism spectrum with a diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome. I don't know if autistic spectrum has a connection to MS (some say it does) but there are other MSers who have children who are autistic spectrum. Several are currently on this group. Memory problems are certainly associated with MS and many of us here have problems along those lines. You could probably search the archives for "memory" and find all sorts of emails. We were talking memory issues recently here. I do "get it" and I understand how awful that can be. You are certainly among friends who understand here!hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
