Any suggestions for a laptop? I've no idea how to set up a router or whatever but I'd love to be able to surf, go on fb, play games, read mail in bed when my back and legs are killing me. Or for jaunts away where the hotels all have "free internet access". I definitely don't want top of the line. I've been looking at the Acer Aspire 15.6" one altho I've not saved up the sheckles yet ... hugs, Cait

I have an Acer Aspire and I really wouldn't recommend it. I have had my share of problems with it and it had to be sent in once for repairs. Sometimes it just suddenly overheats and shuts off. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. If you were going to use wi-fi (like in the hotels with free internet, or if you set up a router at home, that allows you wireless access) to surf etc, you might want to consider the Apple iPad. The cheepest one(s) is/are in about the same price range as the Acer (and there really would be no need to pay extra for either the 3G access if you are going to use the wi-fi, or for a lot of storage if it's mainly a surfing, mailing and gaming machine). We haven't got an iPad (but my sister got one for her daughter – the touch screen makes it very intuitive and child friendly – and I've tried that one), but we have an iPhone and an iPod touch, and they are basically the same, only smaller... In fact, we use especially the iPod touch (which is wi-fi only, no 3G), in exactly the ways you said you wanted to use a laptop: Surfing, reading mails, and writing some (mails as well as other documents, I have Google docs on the iPod), playing games. Either at home when not at the computer, or on the go (using the wifi at all those "free internet access"-places). The one thing you can't quite do with it is playing games ON Facebook – but you can use all the other aspects of Facebook, and most of the Facebook games (at least the Zynga ones, like FarmVille etc) are available separately on the iPod/iPhone/iPad (meaning: you CAN play them, you just can't play them via Facebook, you use a separate app).I guess that'd make an iPod touch another (even cheeper) option for you, of course. But for comfortable long time use, I'd rather recommend the iPad anyway, because of the size, and also because if you don't like using the touch screen keyboard, you can use a "real" keyboard with it. Oh, and do check with Apple Store if you are thinking of buying, they are usually cheeper than other resellers, such as Amazon etc. Plus you can get it engraved for free (we have the quotation "the truth is rarely pure and never simple" on the iPod), a good way to personalize it and make it easily identifiable.fwiwLove/Reb>> Thanks Sharon, that's too bad because it seems to be about the cheapest ... hugs, Cait> > OT: Laptop recommendations> > > > > Any suggestions for a laptop? That's the exact model I have, Cait! I've been pretty happy with it, and at Walmarts I think it was $399, perhaps a bit more, I'm fuzzy on the cost. The only thing I'm NOT crazy about is Windows 7. I'm so used to XP that I did have a bit of trouble adjusting to this new way. It is great to have in bed and all. Hooking up a router is not too difficult. I believe it comes with an installation disc that walks you through it. At least that's the way Linkys is.Hope you can get the dough to pay for it--soon!love to you my friend,KateTo: MSersLife Sent: Thu, January 27, 2011 10:18:24 PMSubject: OT: Laptop recommendations

My experiences with Acer could be isolated though. Good luck finding something you like:) SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
