Guest guest
my child swallows air in a weird way, she has her hands in her mouth constantly, she drools and she belches a lot. is this sensory stuff or does she hasve some gastro/acid reflux complaint. every conventional doctor i ask incl. a gastro just dismisses it as something autistic. she didn't used to do it. it looks awful, her hands are a mess and she is covered in saliva. i really am not sure what to do. any advice would be much appreciated. Guest guest
Hi ,I think the belching is a good indicator that she is dealing with gas, and likely has a reflux issue too. Reflux is horrendous and makes it very difficult to breathe when you feel the pressure on your chest. The swallowing air could definitely be associated with that. I speak from experience, having had some hugely painful and debilitating reflux myself.I hate when doctors take symptoms they would otherwise treat and dismiss them because the child has been diagnosed with Autism. my child swallows air in a weird way, she has her hands in her mouth constantly, she drools and she belches a lot. is this sensory stuff or does she hasve some gastro/acid reflux complaint. every conventional doctor i ask incl. a gastro just dismisses it as something autistic. she didn't used to do it. it looks awful, her hands are a mess and she is covered in saliva. i really am not sure what to do. any advice would be much appreciated.
