I was watching Law and Order SVU. Some storyline about a paranoid mom who

homeschooled her two boys after her husband was killed. I'm watching for 10

minutes before saying to myself " this woman is a perfect example of high

functioning BPD " . Later on in the episode (after one son is dead and the other

in custody) the pyschologist has 5 minutes with her, and then exits the

interrogation room. The attorney asks him " what was that " and he says " that's

her response to stress. She has borderline personality disorder " . hahahaha,

called it a mile away. It was nice to see a main stream show actually portray a

high functioning BPD. Hopefully might bring more awareness.

Wow, yes, that is encouraging if examples of high-functioning bpds, which are

virtually invisible anyway, get more exposure on TV shows. The public badly

needs to be educated about how high-functioning " invisible " bpds can severely

negatively impact their children.

And it was an extremely good example. They should show that to school

counselors, teachers, etc., because it was so under the radar but when you took

a look at it, it was alarming.

An interesting point in the show (made by an elder son who appeared to have been

disowned when he became an adult) was that before the father died, he had

shielded the kids from BPD mom's craziness.

I felt it was a really true to life example. The writer must have had a BPD

mother for sure. No one else could understand what it's like unless they had

experienced this kind of hell.

I just looked it up. It's called 'Home'. Pretty fitting, huh?

saw it many years ago, but does anyone remember the name of the episode?
