Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just wanted to share what happened at my home this weekend. I had one of the most stressing moments when I thought my house was going to burn down. I was cooking a snack to my kids around lunch time, it was french fries, some how the oil caught fire, I'm not sure how, it could be that the pot wasn't super clean from the bottom, or maybe just some burnt oil on the element, I don't know, but it was on fire, it burnt some paper towels that I had beside the stove, and I panicked trying to remember if I should use salt or/and trying to recall where the fire extinguisher was, I went ahead for the extinguisher and wasn't able to operate it, somehow the flames where getting so big and I was in total panic mode, so the smoke was getting very dense and the flames melted the fan and were reaching the ceiling, I started screaming and my husband who never is at home at this time, was in the garage and came very fast. By now the smoke alarm went off and the kids were very afraid and starting to inhale smoke, it became very dense. My husband came to the kitchen and took the extinguisher and just used it right away, he put out the fire just when I was taking the kids out and trying to localize my cordless phones with are never in their place, so I could call 911, but my husband had everything under control. So at the end, there was fire damage to the kitchen cabinets, stove, fan and sink, and lots of smoke damage throughout the house. We took the kids to ER to get checked, they were fine, we were not so well but not bad to get any kind of treatment. I'm not sure what to give my son to help him clear his lungs faster just make sure, because we are still living in the house and the air is a bit heavy (I think). I'd been taking the kids for long walks, even though the weather hasn't help much, but at least they are exercising and breathing clean air, the cleaning is still being done, I changed the furnace filter many times already. The insurance will cover the economical expenses, but I'm not sure if they'll reimburse me for the supplements that they tossed for being expose to the fire, and I just gotten my new shipment of supplements, not much but with the ones in the cupboard it is considerable. Any suggestions on things to do that I'm not considering right now, are welcome, like always. Be well, Sasha
