Guest guest
Hello, I don't know if this is related to the whole autism/PANDAS/immune dysfunction thing, but my 16 yo son developed angular cheilits around the corners of his mouth. Apparently it is a yeast overgrowth like thrush. Googling it made references to B12 and iron deficiency. It quickly responded to a prescription anti-inflammatory creme, and a few supplements from the stock pile. I gave him B12 gummies, culturelle, b complex and slow release iron tablets. It is almost gone now. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this and does this mean my son has a yeast problem in his gut again? Thanks, Jen
Guest guest
Hi JenThis is very interesting. My son has those on his inner lip for 7 months. He never got anything like this before. It is probably coincidence but it started after I treated him for parasites. He run fever, he became fatigued, and his lips were like cheese. Circles with white stuff in them, very painful. So in couple weeks he has recovered from fatigue and fever. However, after seven months we are still fighting with lip stuff. I cannot say it is oral thrush because it is only on his inner lips. They are round and are creamy color. Doctors have no idea what they are. Actually one of them told me that it is my son's special feature and nothing can be done about it:) Well, it was not his feature last year? I have done everything I could think of like antifungals, antivirals, creams but we are still having them. They seem to be gone completely one day and the next day he starts biting his lip again which means a new one is coming. I would really appreciate if anyone else share info on this because it is REALLY frustrating. Thanks for sharing this. Guest guest
This was more like severe chapping and cracking at the corners of his mouth. I gave him slow release iron tablets, b complex, b12 gummies, culturelle and triamcinolone .5% creme. It seems to be gone now. Today he had about 8 red spots that look like mild chicken pox. I took off work and took him to urgent care to have the doctor tell me it isn't chicken pox. She said possi le allergy and prescribed prednisone and an anti-histamine. I still think it could be very mild chicken pox. He had the vaccine, so he would not get a horrible case. Im not giving him the prednisone yet. I feel embarassed about calling out to work. Somebody tell me I'm not overreacting. I had chicken pox about eight years ago. It really looked like chicken pox and he was itching them. He slept in and isn't eating much. What you are describing, white pus blisters inside the lip, sounds like something I had when I had braces as a teen. Eventually went away. I thought the braces were making sores inside my lip.
