I have started my daughter on the folate medication 10 days back and since then

she is waking up very early in the morning around 3 am. Did anyone has the same

experience and is there anything I can do for her to sleep through the night?

Thanks much for any input in advance.

Did you start leucovorin after folate antibody test from Quadros? I started

Cerefolin for the same and my son has a lot of stimming and hyperactivity and

some agitation. It has been almost 2 weeks and stimming is just gradually

increasing. I am wondering that since my child is on high dose folic acid now,

may be we need to give him Mb12 shot more frequently as they need to be in

balance. I am using magnesium glycinate 100 mg twice a day and I noticed that

magnesium calms him down a bit. Also if your child is not already on melatonin,

u can start melatonin which helps with both induction and maintenance of sleep.

I think I will give this cerefolin a try and if interferes too much with his

performance due to increased hyperactivity and stimming, I will talk to the dan

for a possible lower dose in the form of 5MTHF.

Thanks for your reply is. Yes, after the testing. She is not as stimmy but

waking up in the night is effecting her performance. She is already on

melatonin. I will try epsom salt baths before going to bed tonight to see if

that helps. Do you see any improvements in a positive way with your son?

Hi Pratima,

It has been two weeks and I havn't seen any positives and actually he is very

stimmy and has more sensory issues. I am giving him half the tablet of

cerefolin. Is your daughter also on some antifungal/antiviral treatment as that

can cause frequent awakenings also. And I have read that methylb12 and folinic

acid both can pronounce the symptoms of yeast. I have my follow up with his dan

in three weeks and I am going to discuss with him. Did you also do the nagalase

test and anne connolly IgM test?

Thanks

We didn't have this issue with Leucovorin but we had the same issue with

aricept. You can try modifying the time when you give the medicine and gauging

the results. I switched aricept from " Before bed-time " to right after he wakes

up. And that resolved the sleep issue. Just a suggestion - may or may not work -

you'll have to try it and see.
