Guest guest
Our DAN recommended them and we ordered the starter pack. My grandson was not quite 2.2 years old and nonverbal when she recommended them. He communicated well with signs though. Just before we ordered them he started making sounds and trying to speak. By the time we recieved them and started them he was saying just a few words. I'd have to go back and look at the dates, but it seems that he was stuck at just 15 words for awhile even after we started the SPEAK. Then his speech kept improving and he had new words every day. Now he's 2.10 months and can say anything. He's not quite where he should be for his age, but getting there. Since he was already starting to speak before we started the new SPEAK caps, it's hard to know if that's what helped him improve his speech. Words kept coming and clarity got better, but that could have happened anyway as he developed. Or it could have been other things we were doing. We are continuing giving them to him until they are gone, but haven't decided if I will order more since he's doing so well in that area. You get alot in the starter pack. We only gave him 1 a day but you can give 2 or more a day. One thing I liked is that they have the (Gamma) form of Vit. E that alot of supplements don't have. I read in one of my books that form of E is very important. His doctor said it's the combination of the vit E and vit K and the fish oil that has worked so well in some kids. I was also giving CLO and since he's so little, that's why I only did 1 cap instead of 2 or more. So a higher dose might work even better. Wish I could be more certain about it, but it's just one of those things you have to take a chance and try. I always try the things the doctor suggests because she's conservative and only does what she thinks he needs. Joan > > we have w 7yo non verbal. Guest guest
I don't know if there would be a connection, but fish oil is a natural blood thinner To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex >Sent: Thursday, October 20, 2011 1:41 PMSubject: Re: SPEAK fish oil supplements i was also interested on using this but everytime i give fish oil to my son he will start to nosebleed continously everyday, so i dropped it. any thoughts?? mary d. Guest guest
Channa, did you use skate liver oil because of lower mercury vs. fish oil? If not, why skate? i started speak with skate liver oil and flax/borage oil...i saw a improvement in speech.. Guest guest
And what brands of each? There is so much of trash out there that weeding best out of it is a royal pain. Guest guest
I am happy for your results. Only a concern for me is, you can not attribute all development strictly to SPEAK. All of them have anti-inflammatories, so to say and my son hates (Barlean's) flax seed oil i started speak with skate liver oil and flax/borage oil...i saw a improvement in speech.. Guest guest
my philosopy is all our kids are defiecient in something when thier is health issues/ homeostasis is out of wack so that means we are all looking for the wheel that is off the track (so to speak) so for me i think he was defiecient in the oils and that is why i saw an improvement...but i will have to be constantly looking for the next wheel off the track...I guess what im saying is...if your child is defiecient in something that affects brain function and you supplement it thier is a good chance you will see improvement. so many things affect the brain /nervous system..the b vitamins..glutamate receptors ect ect...thier is too many things and it is a long process to go after one thing at a time...I got lucky on this...but tried many things before that made no diffrence and made a diffrence in other kids.. I also found chelation helped with my sons speech..that is another example..mercury is one of the biggest things to impede brain function. chaanna To: mb12valtrex Sent: Friday, October 21, 2011 11:10 AMSubject: Re: SPEAK fish oil supplements I am happy for your results. Guest guest
www.greenpasture.org this is where i got skate oil...i heard it was better higher nutrition the even cod oil. skate is from shark..it is bigger fish.. but I dont worry about mercury in fish as I have heard the selenium in fish conteracts the mercury and the mercury is in a less toxic form in fish then say...vaccines..light bulbs ect. I do not swear by this so you have to decide what you feel is right but I have gone by my intuition and feel the fish and the fish oil has more good then bad in it...also i supplement with selenium and iodine when i usually give my son fish as those are also spose to help pull mercury. for the flax/borage oil i use Platinum flax/borage oil www.supernutrient.com I think everyone should at least try oils a good go...as they are really improtant...you can also buy bilex on the supernutrient site to help with fat digestion if that is a issue.. channa To: mb12valtrex Sent: Friday, October 21, 2011 11:07 AMSubject: Re: SPEAK fish oil supplements And what brands of each?
