Guest guest
I was planning on starting organic cows milk for my son with lacto enzymes. I dont get goats milk here(or atleast I havent found yet where to get it from as its not widely available). He was off milk for a 1.3 years. But I am a little worried to start it again. Since he was a very colicky baby and when we had stopped formula cow milk powder and substituted soya milk powder he did not get the colics. Lately for the last 2 months I am giving him other vegan protein powders, But he mostly gags while drinking and most of the vegan proteins except the rice protein powders anyway are causing digestive issues for him. I thought locally brought milk with the enzymes are cheaper in the long run to sustain. I had started giving him Nutriveda (it contains whey protein isolates) for the last 2 days which is supposed to be lactose, casein and gluten free. He accepted the taste easily but he started complaining about stomach pain after drinking the Nutriveda, even after I gave this with 1/2 capsule of digest gold enzymes. Since whey is from milk, so I am worried that if I start giving him milk, he would regress to his old self... On the other hand,, I am really tired of this special diet... Any advice? Guest guest
We allow dairy as an ingredient but when I let them have cow's milk (organic from the single serving) they seemed to do poorly. I might let them try it again in a few months. Anyway, they occasionally have some baked good with a milk product, or cheese and I give two enzymes when that happens. We were using flax milk and then they stopped carrying it (it was at Walmart) so now we are back to going to give goat's milk a try. They don't have milk often at all, even the non-dairy ones. Like maybe a couple times a month. But the dairy they do have a couple times a week. Today I shredded probably an ounce of goat's cheese on a pizza for my son. Yesterday he had a teaspoon of sour cream on his tacos, which also had some shredded goat's cheese.A long way from the 30 oz of milk he used to drink daily. ;-) Oh, we also use Mix1 protein drinks. Guest guest
Toni, Did you give the dairy milk with enzymes? Also by doing poorly do you mean hyperactivity or stammering in speech, loss of response to name, any other behavior symptoms? or was it issues like bloating, loose stools ? So your kid was ok with goat dairy products but not with cows? Thanks,Navina I was planning on starting organic cows milk for my son with lacto enzymes. Guest guest
In our home I don't give cow's milk to my little ones, my teen is the only one who drinks some with his cereal. After being casein free for almost 2 years I thought of given it a try, big mistake... doesn't matter if its organic or raw... when my daughter has some she develops a horrible eczema on her face and torso, and my ASD son he would have a weird, scary-like way of seeing everything almost like euphoric kind of look in his eyes, even giving them enzymes, but I have to say that cows milk is high in food sensitivities. we also have tried goats milk and it seems that is better but still has some effect after giving it longer than 2 weeks, my children enjoy cereal with "milk" and also all kinds of fruit "milk" shakes, so I do give them anther kinds of milk, I don't do rice milk as I believed I over did it at the beginning causing more yeast and this gave us more autistic behaviors.I tried to give them goat yogurt but they don't like it, so once in a while they get goat cheese but not very often. especially my son, as my daughter she gets dairy in form of cheese or yogurt and she doesn't get the eczema, I also notice that if I boil the milk she don't react bad to it, but I don't want to take the risk with my son. He also use to drink about 1 1/2 L of milk every day.SashaTo: mb12valtrex Sent: Thursday, October 20, 2011 7:37:42 PMSubject: Re: Anyone here using cows milk with enzymes?... Guest guest
You can buy goat milk powder online. http://www.vitacost.com/Meyenberg-Kosher-Goat-Milk-Powder-with-Vitamin-D. I never used this. Sometimes my kid eats goat yogurt with enzimes. He loves it! Guest guest
I can still find Flax milk at walmart, but sometimes they run out (very often) so I go to another branch and I get a bounch of them. I have been all around Dallas visiting many Walmart stores to find the milk. I am planning to call Walmart o send emails begging them to carry the milk more often. This milk goes great with cereal, jell-o, shakes, pancakes, etc., or plain. They also have Vanilla flavor. Sent from my iPod
Guest guest
My word... I am JUST getting this email. Sigh.My son was drinking " smoothies " (milk/kefir/yobaby) constantly up till we took him off the stuff. His very hard stools cleared up. However we did likely start mag and zinc at the same time. LOL He was speaking, two worded requests. But he was like 2.5 when he had his first seizure and ~ 3.5 when we took the milk away. By then he was one year behind in speech... up till the seizure he was probably " on target " or close enough that people told us not to worry. He wasn't hard to understand, he didn't ask for much. He was hyper and would basically take the sippy out of his mouth and say " mo doo " for " more juice " or " mo smooee " for " more smoothy. " When he would talk, we could usually make it out and it was " smart " enough that we didn't think he had any problems, except being hyper. However if asked his name he might say " Ak " for Alek or " lanam coman " for " last name coleman " (sigh)Things were prob pretty bad but we didnt see all this as we were concentrating on Gabi, my older child who had massive meltdowns and we were pursuing a asperger's dx. His behavior and growth issues didn't get bad till we took him OFF the milk and gluten, which kind of pisses me off. Actually he gained weight but his vertical rate of growth slowed. Not completely but he's lower on the curve. Anyway, he's making improvements in some things while other things make me question doing restricted diet. Sigh. Before he was on the diet, he was an eloper and spazzy and you could barely make out his words unless you knew what to expect. I mean duh, mo doo and a sippy thrown at you, kinda figure that one out. But if I didn't know the kid, and he came up to me and said mo doo I'm be like huh? So his speech is getting better, but his behavior was worse... now getting better with boosted vitamins. Sigh.We give him some goat cheese and occasional milk in baked goods or snacks (like, for instance, I would allow him to have a few bits of pirate booty or maybe 4 cheddar GF crackers, or some pumpkin pie w/ GF crust) We also use 1/2 zyrtec, 1/2 sudafed, and Quercetin 300 mg capsule daily to combat allergies, along with the enzymes. Guest guest
Thanks Toni, Is zyrtec this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cetirizine ? I remember taking this when I had flu.. But is it fine to take it and sudafed every day?or do you use this only for certain seasons - like pollen season. Guest guest
Yes, that's zyrtec. I use them both everyday. I believe both kids are prob heavy enough to use a whole pill everyday but I use a half. And I think the full dose for their ages/weight for the sudafed would be a whole pill too, or two. So Yes. This is not what a doctor said to do (with the sudafed) but doctor did ok claritin or zyrtec daily. Even back when my boy was two yrs old, allergist said I could use a daily antihistamine. Thanks Toni, Is zyrtec this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cetirizine ? I remember taking this when I had flu..
