It's really a nice piece, I don't recognize the signature either but you never know. I'd say take it to an art dealer and see if they can appraise it or at least give you some info about it. Am I seeing this correctly that it's dated 1483 or is it 1983? If it's dated 1483 that alone makes it worth something. Good luck, hope you have a treasure there along with a good work of art.

Never say never, but I've yet to find a pre-17th-cent painting of any

sort with either a signature or Arabic numeral date - and in the course of

costume research, I've peered at what seems like bazillions of them... :-D

I know I've seen something somewhere very like this in style, but be

blessed if I can remember where/who - modern art just ain't my THANG.
